Well, most importantly, I don’t see you fucking up your diet…you seem to be pretty good at that aspect, haha.
Excuses, excuses…

Today I had the first experience of my tib/fib sliding behind my femur… holy hell it hurt! Makes you remember real quick that something ain’t right lol
Dude that video of your shin shifting around makes me cringe, just thinking about it…
Protein does not kick you out of ketosis as many of the orthodox keto zealots will say. There are studies available proving that gluconeogenesis does not occur nearly as much as previously thought and only occurs on an as needed basis to regulate your blood sugar. Most of my fat comes from fatty beef, avocados, coconut oil ect. I keep a high protein high fat diet with carbs typically falling under 20 to 30 grams. You can use dextrose powder to fuel your workouts and have the anabolic effects of insulin. Its a powerful tool to have. I’m very happy with my progress.
I use 10 grams of dextrose pre workout to fuel my workouts. Not necessarily before every workout. I’m doing refeeds on Sundays and all it really amounts to is a cup of oatmeal.
Awesome! I’ll look into it. Do you have any advice on literature to read? Also are you counting carbs in veggies? 20-30 grams is exceptionally low. Could you outline more or less a standard day of eating for you? Any cholesterol issues?
The general consensus is that cholesterol is a terrible bio marker for predicting future cardiac events. It seems theres a big issue with men and women having “perfect” cholesterol and dropping dead of heart attacks. Thats concerning. A better marker is triglycerides. Elevated triglycerides cause systemic inflammation in the body and if you want to lower triglycerides you must lower your carbohydrates/refined sugars. I do count carbs in veggies minus the fiber.
I eat ALOT of eggs. Outside of that its lots of steak, fish (omega 3s for heart health) chicken (with the skin) and fatty beef. For beef start at the ribs. I love tenderloin but it gets expensive. For lunch today I had 1/2 lbs of 80/20 beef with some chopped cauliflower seasoned with garlic salt and crushed red pepper. I chopped up 3 boiled eggs and added that to the mix. It was incredible. Ive got another 1\2 lbs of the exact same mix to eat before I go home at the end of the day. I supplement with zero carb protein shakes and quest bars as needed.

Monday and Tuesday were low carb days and today’s a high carb day. Definitely feel more satisfied having some oats this morning. Going to keep it pretty light this afternoon as date night is tonight and I’ll have some drinks and other carbs I’m sure.
My lower back is pretty jacked as of now so back will be primarily lats and mid to upper back.

What?!? I think my fingers absorb more carbs than that as I stuff my face. I’m on the high and higher carb diet.

Today’s a rest day for me. Just knocking out a bunch of stuff I’ve been neglecting. Paying bills, updating the projected budged for next semester etc. nice quiet morning if I say so myself.
Last night was date night and I felt like my wife and I really had a good time and actually flirted and enjoyed each other. That makes me happy. It’s amazing how being proactive about something can change it for the better quite quickly.
Heard a transformer blow and now the powers out so I’m at a stand still. Guess I’ll clean up and get ready for my day.

Well holidays are in full swing at our house so I’ve been with family and not too present here on the forum. Got three workouts in last week and going to shoot for 4 this week. Weight is holding steady between 165 and 169 so I’m pleased with that considering I’ve been a little looser with nutrition the past week with parties and all… (especially in the cocktails department)
Today’s agenda will be:
Breakfast
Chest and triceps
Haircut
Few last minute gifts to buy
Maybe dinner at Texas Roadhouse. (One of my students fave me a $75 gift card so that’s nice)
Then chill by the fire. Not gonna be a bad day overall. Hope everyone is having z a good start to a holiday week
I like this a lot.
It’s not new, or exciting, it’s just true.
Have a great Christmas Jack. Kick back with the family and smash those food gainzz.
It’s also a kick in the pants every time an injury sends me backwards.
Yeah but your getting better where you can though. Better deadlift, better job, better enjoyment of food etc. oh believe me I know I’m in for a rude awakening when I come out of anesthesia!
I might be headed back to the operating table. I posted my MRI results in my log.
Merry Christmas everyone! Two workouts on this week and two more to go. Gonna enjoy food and family tomorrow though!

This was exciting as I ate a ton last night. We always make fondue on Christmas Eve. We had chicken, steak, shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, and a Swiss and cheddar cheese fondue with French bread. That paired with a nice Pinot noir made for a fantastic meal.
As I reflect this morning on the year one thing is crystal clear. It’s all grace! We as humans are broken broken people. We need grace on our best days (which are few). And we sure as hell need it on our bad days. God sent his Son to live the life that we should have lived and to die the death that we deserved. We’ll never be good enough to earn God’s favor but instead are saved by grace through faith. I for one am so thankful that God doesn’t say no to me despite my many faults and shortcomings. At the end of the day His grace is enough. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!
Merry christmas Jack to you and yours
