I enjoy the training hard and dieting for a competition, but struggle with all the other things that go into it. (Posing, working on symmetry, tanning, shaving, etc).
I have a crooked pelvis and scoliosis, and am working on poses that will hide the curvature and imbalances. I think putting weight on my front leg and turning into the pose hides it the best and helps keep the waist looking smaller. Here are a few pictures that my wife took. Thinking that I have about 5lbs to go in the next six weeks.
Honestly, with all I’ve heard about legitimate contest preps, if he’s not feeling run down, lethargic, and maddeningly hungry, then he can cut more calories and lose more fat. Sounds scary, but that’s the prep grind for you.
Yeah to be competitive I really need to be closer to 5%. So roughly 5-6 lbs. I’m not doing much cardio right now and am around 2200-2400 calories a day so I have room to manipulate.
The struggle will be maintaining mass. It’s an NPC show so won’t be tested and without a serious pre contest cycle it’s easy to eat up some of your muscle mass when cutting.
I’m only on my TRT dose and sermorelin, which will help but not to the extent of a full cutting cycle. But I feel good, and my ding dong works so I’m happy!
Thanks man. I agree. I think I’m overly critical as well. If I take photos it’s generally after a workout and I have a pre workout meal, shake, and a bunch of water in my belly so I always feel a little full in the middle. Need to do some research about the right protocol for the week land days leading up to the show
Had a great workout overall today. Mixed it up a little and went for mostly pump work. Finished up feeling like a freaking balloon lol.
I’ve made an adjustment to my nutrition and have taken carbs out of meal 5. My carbs are down to 150 grams daily, and I’m going to up my cardio to 7 days per week starting tomorrow. Protein is around 250-275 and fat is under 40. I’m still feeling pretty good, but am getting hungrier and a little more easily fatigued.
Veins are starting to appear in places I’ve never seen them before like around my ribs and under my pecs. I can only imagine what it’s going to be like in 5.5 weeks.

Been working this year on getting some of the old gymnastics skills back. First Cody full I’ve done in probably 20 years. It wasn’t pretty but I made it! Man I wish I had the desire to learn and grow that I have now when I was 20.
Is that your warmup routine mate ? lol. I always train high volume, possibly too much at times. 2 hour sessions is pretty common for me. Its more a means to stay out of the house and forget family life for a while, plus I like feeling wrecked afterwards.
A few years back I was training more higher intensity, get in get it smashed and leave within an hour. Its good to switch it up, becomes more interesting when you are used to the same old grind. I’m sure you will be busted after that one lol
