The Best Recovery Supplements

Original is the best for sure…I ordered rasberry once and it disgusted me for sure…since I’m poor right now, I just use bulk whey protein powder and add like 45g of dextrose to it for post workout. But if you can afford it go with Surge. A tub of Surge lasts me about a month since i do 4 training sessions per week.
Aw man, I love the rasberry. I find it incredibly delicious. Original is good too though. I do have a friend that likes the taste of the rasberry but gets nauseated after drinking only a few sips. It’s strange. There is no such nausea with the other flavors.

I like ZMA +melatonin b4 bed. I know if i dont get a good DEEP night’s sleep the day will suck.
How much melatonin do you use and what effect does it have? Interesting. Anyway, my answer to the original question: 5 year loyal Surge user, fish oil, glutamine and BCAAs.

3mg

I cant speak of its exact effects on me because I always take it with my ZMA out of habbit but I feel that the combo keeps me asleep instead of waking up my normal 1-4 times throughout the night.

i like BCAA, glutamine, and ZMA (not used at the same time)

ZMA - Before Clocking Out
BCAA or Leucine - With Meals
Betaine HCL 300-600mg - With High Protein Meals

Eat lots of red meat and omega-3’s

so i got my Surge original…good taste…one question though…why is there so much sugar? Its very sweet. 42g of sugar per serving.

You know I’ve been on 11-T for a week and a half. Love it. recovery has been quick quick quick. Plus SURGE Recovery, Flameout etc. the usual suspects!

Naturally Glutamine helps with recovery.
Some suggest that taking it post workout, and right before bed time, has positive effects.
Some people go as far as to have it when they wake up as well.
Coolio

And some people swear it does nothing for improved body composition or strength.

I’ve tried supplementing with glutamine and never did experience a difference with it.

this is a seconding for the non-glutamine. Dave Barr wrote a pretty good article on it.

for me recovery is BCAAs+ Protein and when I have them, Creatine and beta-alanine.

No offense to Dave Barr, but why is his the last word on something like glutamine? There are other reported benefits to glutamine supplementation beyond being a recovery aid.

For instance, CT prescribes glutamine as part of a low-carb PWO shake protocol for restoring glycogen.
just for me, since i don’t do excessively low-carb, i don’t use it. If you do that’s fine, but most people i think don’t use it like that, or don’t need it that much.

The first jar of Surge I bought in October 2004 had glutamine included in it. I know there are people on both sides of this issue but there does seem to be decent research around using it so I am not going to tell someone to stay away from it. However, I have not used it in any form since Surge dropped it from its formula.

Surge has always contained a significant dose of L-Glutamine, it’s inherent to the WPH used.

The current formula has 4,335 mg per serving.

A shake with lots of calories and carbs, wonderful recovery, and tastes delicious!
