The Best Movie You've Never Seen

I would like to contribute Equilibrium as my favorite little know movie of all time. Christian Bale (Batman Begins) plays the lead in a fantastic, futuristic, big-brother-is-holding-us-down, movie. It’s got superb action sequences (gun takata anyone?) and a redemptive ending. It’s a great movie for T-Nation members.

See this movie tonight and come back here and thank me tomorrow.

Here’s a link to the Equilibriuym poster by the way. Definetely Matrix inspired…

…never heard of this movie until i saw it, but was blown away by the story and the kid in: “Fresh”…

…and for the good ol’times: “Bad Taste”…

…“Fallen” is another one, and “Brasil” is a fond memory, as is “Ghost Dog”…

…anyone remember “Jacob’s Ladder”?

Riding Giants… essential surfing documentary.

Bound… the Watchowski bros first flick

Bound, great pick! Was lucky enough to see that 5 years ago at the cineplex as a re-release.

Glengarry Glen Ross hasn’t been mentioned yet. Excellent.

Ong-Bak

Hero and the Terror

I thought about it, but figured it was less obscure than this thread called for. Great flick indeed!!

“Happiness” (a bizarro story of a highly dysfunctional family and a biting exploration of the dark side of human nature, with Philip Seymour Hoffman – not for the squeamish).
Wow… quite possibly one of the most disturbing movies I’ve ever seen. However, I still recommend it and stress that you must sit through the entire movie to truly appreciate it, which can be difficult becuase it is a bit of a slow mover. But those scenes with Dr. Maplewood and his son, my god…

As far as obscurity is concerned, I have to throw up The Way of the Gun, written and directed by the guy who wrote the Usual Suspects (Christopher McQuarrie). It wasn’t very popular when it came out in the early 90’s, but I have to say it is a great “modern day western.” Furthermore, action fans should check out the work John Woo did in Hong Kong in his prime, like “Hard Boiled”, “The Killer”, and “Bullet in the Head”. Those are great action movies; far better than the crap Hollywood has him do today. Also, Chow Yun Fat is cool as hell in them.

More recently, I highly recommend The Assassination of Richard Nixon, Primer, and Thank You for Smoking.

Wolf Creek. Set in outback Australia. Does wonders for tourism im sure.
I have to disagree man, that movie licked balls. It was a horror movie and it wasnt even scary, and by the end of the movie the protagonists annoyed me so much I couldnt wait for them to die. Every time they made it past some scary situation i got pissed and started thinking about going to the bathroom or getting a refill on my popcorn. -Just my two cents.

“Chopper” with Eric Bana. Act like you know.
Gotta agree… Great movie. Eric Bana made a funnier “Chopper” than Mark Reed although not quite as menacing.

It does now, but before it was some dude wankin his weiner.
And btw, Wolf Creek was utterly horrible. How anyone could like that movie is beyond my belief.

I have to second “The Professional” as a MUST watch. Amazing plotline.

Definitely. I understand there’s a French version of it out there, which wasn’t released in the US but I haven’t been able to find it.

Ronin (with Robert De Niro, Jean Reno and this smokin-hot Irish babe named Natasha McElhone. Has great action and some of the best car chases you’ll ever see…and a plot, even).

One of my favorites… as long as it is the director’s cut (same as uncut international edition). There are currently two versions of the director’s cut out there, the “Deluxe Version” and “Version Integral”. The director’s cut of this movie is much, much better than the original US theatrical.

Best of maryjane.

The Warriors…definately old school but great movie!!!

“Can you dig it, suckas!!!”

‘Memento’

‘Once Were Warriors’

‘Baraka’

It’s been a few years, but if I remember right, the big car chase scene is what turned me off of Ronin. It was far too drawn out and I got bored and couldn’t finish watching it.

Oh, and I also recommend Dr. Strangelove.
