The 2024 Olympics Thread šŸ¹

Bottom line

Male gentalia at birth…compete against males

Female genitalia at birth…compete against females

hermaphrodite at birth…depends on testosterone levels

Oh, when I said ā€œit’s complicatedā€ I was commenting under this statement:

If you read his full comment, it’s really good.

I wasn’t saying that it’s complicated as far as XY competing against XX. You and I are in agreement there. Separating it by chromosomes seems like the only solution.

It’s not apparent.

Irrelevant.

Relevant.

It’s all BS. These boxers were already disqualified at the world championships. This Olympics decided to go with a different governing body that was magically created for this Olympics. That’s very suspect. You have an established governing body that disqualified them, so you create a new one specifically for this Olympics, and this Olympics alone, in order to let them compete.

The DPRK kid in the far left is DEFINATLY reporting everyone else to the party commissars.

For the Ladies sports I’m always going to go Gymnastics and Beach Volleyball, but Long Jump made a serious entry in this year’s games.

The common denominator here seems to be the sprinting component. But then again, the female swimmers can look pretty jacked. I have no idea what an Olympic swimmer’s weight training looks like, but they don’t skip glute/leg day.

What new governing body was created? As far back as I can remember the IOC has been governing the Olympics, and the sports individual governing bodies handle world cup/championships etc.

What new governing body was created for this year’s Olympic boxing?

The Olympic Games Paris 2024 Boxing Tournament is organized under the authority of the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit (PBU). The PBU is an ad-hoc unit created by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board with the mandate to organise and ensure the delivery of the Olympic Boxing Qualifying Tournaments and the Boxing Competition at Paris 2024.

The PBU was created following the suspension of the Olympic recognition of the International Boxing Association (IBA) by the IOC Session in June 2019 – the IBA’s recognition was subsequently withdrawn by the IOC Session in June 2023 – and the announcement in June 2022 that the IBA would not run the Olympic Boxing Qualifying Tournaments and the Boxing Competition at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

Right, the boxing went back under the IOC, where it had been for years. Same rules as Rio.

Why did they go away from the IBA? Because a Russian oligarch bought it, moved it to Russia and the sport largely abandoned the IBA.

Boxing is the most notoriously corrupt sport, soaybe Algeria and Taiwan(?) did pony up some cash to the organizers. Who knows?

The Olympics are corrupt. It starts with how cities are chosen to host them. Why take over governance but change a rule that didn’t allow men to fight women? FIFA is corrupt, but the Olympics won’t touch it.

I don’t think a rule was changed. They just reverted to the rules the last time IOC was in charge (Rio 2016).

Did you see what just happened to Salt Lake City 2034? IOC threatened to not award them the Olympics if the US officials didn’t stop their independent investigation of the Chinese swimmer doping scandal. SKETCHY.

I would say XX with normal female test levels is women’s sports. Everything else is men’s sports. It’s the simplest binary. People are not owed a chance to compete in a sport at a certain level. Most people don’t get that chance.

I find it rather hypocritical for the Algerian man to beat up the Italian lady and then say that he will, ā€œFight anybody.ā€ He’s in the division where he only has to fight women. Fight men if you will really, ā€œFight anybody.ā€

Simone Biles winning Gold again at age 27! is crazy; she’s practically an old lady for that sport lol.

(especially after the issues she had at the previous Olympics)

I had, once, a horse.

It looked like a mare from the outside, act like a stud, had no uterus upon inspection and testes in the abdominal cavity, too large and too low to be ovaries.

Strange stuff happen but it is not the norm.
We did the gene test for fun and it came out XXY. If it looked male on the outside it would have been XYX. As far as I remember.

Cryptorchidism is the technical term. The testes dont drop, but continue to form inside the body cavity. Due to the increased temp they tend to be over active, so they act hyper studish.
