The best Soundgarden stuff was their earlier work. Their later Spoonman and Black Hole Sun were radio-friendly crap.
Soundgarden were masters at the dark heavy sludge. They were primarily a metal band, and were THE band responsible for ushering a new era that diverted the public’s attention from the faggy hairbands of the 80s… opening the door for bands like Nirvana, Pearljam and STP. Cornell was unmatched vocally before 1992. After that, he really started to slip (too much booze and smoking).
Oasis- Don’t Look Back In Anger
Pulp- Common People (great lyrics)
Pulp - Do You Remember The First Time
Blur - Song 2
Blur - Beetlebum
The Stone Roses - Driving South (one of my favourite riffs in this)
Supergrass - Alright
Radiohead - Just
Pavement - Cut Your Hair (GREAT SONG)
Pavement - Range Life
My Bloody Valentine - When You Sleep
Ride- Vapor Trail
Ride - Vapour Trail (Live in Madrid 92') - YouTube (Could only find a live version, but great song)
R.E.M- Losing My Religion
R.E.M.- Everybody Hurts
Fountains of Wayne- Radiation Vibe
- YouTube (Could only find a live version, but it’s good)
The Black Crowes - Blackberry
Dman, ya’ll haven’t listed many that suck… maybe 2. Graduating HS in 97 I would get down to most of these maybe with a little more hip hop (UGK, Snoop, PAC,) but some Pantera, Tool, Nirvana. Of couse jammed the later shit in college. I can always remember warming up for my first college game with Song 2 blaring in the stadium.
Good Times.
B Boy Concert Story: I was a 15 year old sophmore. Went with 2 friends that I grew up with…decked in fresh treads from the thrift store. Drink vodka and OJ in the parking lot before hand.
Lights go out right before first song. We had talked everyone in our section, outside the floor to rush the floor, when the lights go out. So we lead the way… There are a bunch of big security guys and rails dividing us from the higher class…
We all push our way through. One of my friends got put in a head lock… helped him and all 3 of us split up into the crowd so we could not be followed… meet up in the mosh pit in about 15 minutes and put it DOWN!
Best introduction to live music! Summit 1995.

i’m stuck trying to figure out the name of a particular band right now arrrrrrrrgh i think the name had something to do with spinal fluid
Spinal Tap?
I know you said you found it, but Pearl Jam has nothing to do with spinal fluid so I’m just throwing it out there, seeing as they were an early 90s rock band.[/quote]
no it was Pearl Jam. i thought pearl jam was supposed to be a reference to the stuff in your spinal discs. thats why i associate it with the band name.
