Since these unanimous conclusions are based on 40 years of rigorous research on the subject, I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one. Gays do not score any differently than heteros on any standardized measure of psychological/emotional health.

Forlife, you might have misread the question. I asked you a what if question. Rigorous research might lead to a different conclusion in the light of new data. It might happen that the next 20 years bring new (“improved”) standardized measures of mental health and the outcome will be that homosexuality is a mental illness. Would you accept such a scientific consensus if it becomes true?
