Unless he turns out like Andre Ware.
Millen would be hanged for sure if that happened.

Immensely entertaining game.
Did anyone else catch what Leinart said to the ABC reporter after the game? “We were the better team, they just made the plays.”
What a fucking asshole.
Totally classless. At least Reggie Bush was man enough to go to the Longhorn dressing room and congratulate them. Where was Leinart? Crying to the press about how they were rally better than Texas.
How much you wanna bet that there are some SC butt lickers in the AP that still give the Trojans a 1st place vote, or two/[/quote]
I watched the second half of that game, and Texas should be #1. They played better, their defense was better, and their quarterback (Young) was un-fucking-believable.
I’m not a USC fan, but they’re also a great team. It was a great game…but if Texas doesn’t get #1, they’re getting ripped off. They played a hell of a game.

I’m Michigan fan but common i was saying it before the second quarter ended that the blown call was going to be huge as to whether or not vince would have made it anyway…who’s to say he got stopped twice at 20 (remember the two missed field goals). Yeah good game however it sucks the refree helped texas
I don’t see how you can set there and say that the blown call at the goal line was anymore important than the interception that was totally missed. It led to a USC field goal.
They couldn’t stop Young at all. He probably wouldn’t mind transferring to a PAC-10 school after last night. I don’t think he ripped through any other team this entire season the way he did “One of The Greatest Teams of All Time”.

Where watching college football this season? what about colorado or oklahoma state Or even my team michigan in the last rose bowl. Anywho its funny how everybody wants usc to loose calling them a “sham” I don’t think you win 34 games straight being a “sham”
yes it was a good game but the refs shouldn’t had blown the call in my mind they didn’t win straight up…
Texas is an average team who’s made great by one player vince young…Usc on the other hand you can take aways leinart and the team will still be good because everybody else is good not just the QB. just imagine if major applewhite was at QB last night what would have happened…basically what it boils down too is one guy running the ball (200 yards 3 tds) and 10 guys blocking…Nevertheless this is one of the best seasons of college football can’t wait till next year!

I say both teams deserve number one just on the merit that texas beat them…it could have went either way especially with the calls that were made…
Look like you needed something to cheer about after the Eagles game last week. I’m a Cowboy fan too. It was hard to watch the game last week knowing it was for nothing.

I agree. From an athletic standpoint, the pro games are better, but there is something to the spirit of a college game that makes it more exciting.
Plus, from a football aficianado standpoint, you’re going to see more different sets, formations and plays, and matchups of contrasting styles, in college football vs. in pro ball.

Agreed.

Quit whining and take it like a man - USC got beat fair and square. Don’t be making a Leinart out of yourself.
Texas has only won 20 straight, but has already whipped more #1 teams than SC did in 34.
I know it has to hurt, but Cali got beat by Texas, and no excuse making in the world will change that fact.

If we say both teams are number one, then why did we even bother to play the game at all?

No shit. Do we all get a trophy and orange wedges, too?
To hell with the poor officiating–though I think Texas definately gained an edge in the totality of the officiating…What about that ‘convenient’ review of an obvious no call that stopped the clock with a minute to play???
STILL–can someone explain to me why Pete the magnificant went for it on 4th down at mid F’n field?
A lot of strange plays in that game. Poor officiating. Mack Brown outcoached super Pete. And one major stud. I don’t know how good of a qb he will be, but that is a thoroughbread there.

I thought it was a good decision to go for it on 4th down. USC had a much better chance of gaining one and a half yards than they did of stopping Young. It wouldn’t have mattered if he had to take them 96 yards instead of 56.

I beg to differ. Besides just the general idiocy of the argument, they scored with 19 seconds left. That’s only one play if it’s not a first down or out of bounds. I would rather make a guy go a longer distance than a shorter one to win the game.
The only bad part about the 4th down call was that Reggie Bush was on the sideline. The few times that SC had both White and Bush on the field for a play, they ripped off at least 10 yards. The threat of Bush, no matter how much he’d been bottled up, is hard to ignore if he’s at least on the field. I liked the call (if they get the first they win), but you can’t have the Heisman Trophy winner on the sideline for the most important play of the damn game. Congrats to UT, they played their asses off.

Texas hadn’t stopped #21 all night. There’s 2 minutes left, and 4th and 1. I go for it and play the odds. If SC makes it - they win. If they punt they give the ball away and guarantee Young a shot. You gotta play to win, and play to your strength - #21 just picked the wrong play to get shut down on.
I think the bigger Caroll blunder was the timeout called when Texas was going for two. Hell - give them the points and save a time out.
I have a feeling this game will be dissected for years.
Gentlemen
I agree if they get it they win the game–ok.
At that point in the game you play the percentages. The prudent move was to punt and lengthen the field.
And most certainly Bush should have been on the field.
I’ll say it again because even I can’t believe it–Mack Brown outcoached someone in a big game. UUUUUggggggghhhh
That’s just painful to type.
The thing I loved about Vince Young in this game is the way he stood tall in the pocket…even with guys hanging onto his feet, he made perfect throws! This guy is an absolute stud! I’m no where near a Texas fan, but they earned my respect last night! Congrats Horns!
NCAA Football needed Texas to return to glory. And what better way than taking the media love-child, aka the University of Spoiled Children, to the woodshed…
HOOK’EM HORNS!

What difference does it make who makes the plays? This is the silliest argument I have heard yet. You know how I define a great team? Winning games against other solid teams. If two teams are 11-0 for a season, and they face off, the team that wins is the better team that season. This is about as clean cut as you are going to get in college football.
As to what Sasquatch said, they made 3 plays (or was it 4, I don’t remember) in 30 seconds. I think they should have punted it, but your argument doesn’t hold water. If we go by averages, Texas shouldn’t have made it 50 yards in 50 seconds, so Texas should lose no matter what the play is.
The funniest part of that game is that an unintentional face mask may have been the call that gave Texas the game.
And finally, all this talk about the knee going down. That looked obvious to you because you had a perfect angle and it was in slow motion. Don’t you think Pete Carroll would have called a timeout if he saw it? It’s not a case of bad reffing; refs are human and can’t catch everything.

So you’re saying Texas is a one player team and USC is a two player team?
