Test e cycle at 41

At the age of 41, I would like to regain some lost muscle mass and lose some fat. When I was 18–20 years old, I ran a single 12-week cycle consisting of test, deca, and a bit of parabolan. That was, needless to say, many years ago. Since then and up until now, I have been natural.

Overall, I am healthy, do lifting 3–4 times a week, and get moderate exercise.

I am aware that I’m not quite young anymore and, based on a principle of caution, I intend to stick to 250 mg of pure testosterone per week as the only compound. I plan to run a cycle for 10–12 weeks and then do a PCT with Nolvadex. It is very important to me to be able to restart my natural testosterone production afterward, as I am not ready to be on TRT for the rest of my life.

Do I have good chances, or would this be a foolish risk to take?

Way more risk than upside to this plan, particularly given natural production desires and a low dose cycle.

What are your current T/Free T levels?

I’m not sure. I didn’t really think it was “normal” to look into that sort of thing when you’re on a cycle.

Now I’m trying to be honest and do some self-reflection: I think I’ve hit a kind of midlife crisis. I want to feel young, lean, and fit. If testosterone is a bad idea, then what can I do? I think I’ll probably end up doing something like that sooner or later anyway.

I’ve never cycled but if I was going to I’d definitely want to know my natural levels (if you’re legit low trt might be the best option for you) and see how close I get to full recovery (pre and post cycle bloods).

A midlife crisis seems like a bad reason to take drugs.

You don’t just get TRT in this country. Your levels have to be rock bottom — basically, you have to be really sick.

Is it dumb to do because of a midlife crisis? Maybe. Or maybe it’s just another thing people do all the time.

That’s generally the point of medicine, but it can be a little frustrating when the system isn’t up to date with latest medical thinking (free test particularly).

People also drink drive, drive without seatbelts and smoke 20 cigarettes a day, just because other people do it, doesn’t mean it’s not a bad idea.

Just to clarify, I’m not against the drugs, just the ill informed approach and the lack of clear rationale behind it, if you did do a cycle at 250mg per week I think you’d be pretty disappointed and still have potentially damaged your endocrine system.

I hear what you’re saying — truly. And maybe I should just let it go and be glad I never started.

Still, I’d like to do something more than just eating protein, lifting weights, and exercising. I could really use some kind of boost.

I don’t have a good overview of what options are out there or how they work, but I’m open to suggestions.

May I ask the reasoning for you not being ready for trt? If it can do help in the way you want, is it such a bad thing?

I’d definitely start by checking your a full panel of blood work, it helps to know why you’re feeling like you need a boost in the first instance, then I’d work on lifestyle factors of anything that test brings up.

I’d always recommend the boring but obvious, sleep, diet, exercise etc.

Then if you cover all of that and still feel like crap, well you’ve got access to Test outside of medical systems you do as you see fit, you can run your own “TRT” or cycle but at least you know you’ve got all your ducks in a row first.

To be honest, I don’t think my testosterone is low enough at all. I would simply use it as doping. That’s what people normally do when they run a cycle.

250 would shut you down but not get you too far into supra (possibly, we are all different) so it could be a waste. Shut down to get exogenous T levels equal to natural.

Why don’t you start a log here with your food and get some feedback from the hive mind.

One cycle with PCT is going to be a zero sum game. Don’t do it. You’ll be back to where you started after PCT or worse IMO.

I think the prescription for how you’re feeling involves getting you a 23 year old hot girlfriend, buying a sports car, changing your entire wardrobe, and going out to clubs and partying all night. Problem solved! Oh yeah, and also getting into crazy good shape.

Hey man, I actually have a little bit of experience with a similar situation. My father had a similar sort of “mid-life crisis” though he has a decade and then some on you. I put him on what I like to call a natural+ cycle. This includes:

Retatrutide

Igf1-lr3

Mk677

Enclomiphene

Tadalafil

I have also cycled him on and off of things like ghk-cu, glutathione, NAD+, and BPC157/TB500.

I may get some flack because I know that a lot of people don’t like peptides, but it fits his goals and his ideal lifestyle. He was also worried about effecting his natural production if he decides to stop so Enclomiphene fixes that problem and can still get you to the 800+ range so you feel great. The issue with enclo is that it can effect your igf1 production which is why we threw in the igf1 and mk677. You might not find a glp1 to be necessary but he struggles with controlling his appetite already so it helps him stay lean while he is putting on muscle. I put him on tadalafil because I knew he would like it given the benefits of having better circulation lol. Again, take this with a grain of salt and you might be looking for a simpler and stronger cycle but it allowed him to get in great shape and feel great about himself again.

in the US I was able to get trt at 35 yo when my nat level was 500

I would say if you are going to do test e, do at least 500-750mg per week for 12 weeks then go on pct. I’ve known guys who went back on a few cycles in their early 40s and they’re fine.

Im 38 and its been 7 years since I did a cycle. Im going to start 750mg of test e next week. I’m not worried about permanent damage as long as I do it safely and responsibly. Irreversible effects happen when people stack too much and/or run it for too long with no pct plan or break in between.
