My ex was a medical records tech. There’s a TON of people who lay hands on your record. The less they know, the better
I had a feeling this was something custom you made. Very detailed, it’s a good tool to see how our levels actually look during the week on different frequencies.
Well during the appointment today, I found out my eye is slightly worse. They injected some dye into my arm then used a machine to watch the dye leak into my eye and it looks like my eye is leaking in 2-3 locations. They gave me a shot in my eye which was fucking terrible and I still have to do two more about 5 weeks apart. They told me I should have minimal activity for at minimum the next one week (which I at least partially disagree, I think blood flow is excellent for all forms of recovery to move nutrients and dead tissues into and out of the body, and repair damaged tissues). But I’ll give it one week of not doing anything strenuous to see if there is a notable difference.
Also I plan to drop my test all the way down to 150 mg/wk until this heals up.
Don’t stress it too much. Just recover. The gains will come back 10X as fast as it took to build them the first time.
I think its more about internal eye pressure rather than blood flow.
You’re probably correct, either way I am going to (begrudgingly) listen to the doctor. They might know just a little bit more about eyes than I do ![]()
I’m really glad this happened to me at 32 and not 22. If I was 22 I probably would’ve said fuck it and just kept on rolling, waiting for it to heal even though it wouldn’t
I actually just found out yesterday that my brother-in-law’s mother-in-law has had CSR for 20 or 30 years and her vision never came back.
Here’s a pic of the OCT scan of my eye showing the fluid pocket between my eye and retina, top is 8 October, bottom is 22 October
This pic is the blood in my eye after they gave me a shot in the eye, which sucked. My vision looks a lot better today in my right eye after the shot and I was told that at about the 1 week mark the medicine is having its maximum effect, so it should continue to get better for the next 6 days.
Ehhh, I’ve been more open about my use to doctors than I am on here, I have the label under my record.
As to insurance screwing me over later in life. I figure if i’m going to do something stupid and dangerous I might as well admit it, cop the benefit of physician assisted monitoring and let insurance screw me over (for good reason might I add). My prior use is only disclosed to others at my discretion, though when applying for health insurance it will become evident.
I disclose everything to medical professionals pertaining to decisions that have potential health rammifications
- sexual activity
- any recreational drug use (licit or illicit)
- mental health status
- physical health status
- any and all medication taken
If something serious ever goes down and I need X procedure performed, X substance administered I’d prefer any attending physician to have a full view regarding what they’re looking at.
What if I’m given a substance/procedure that induces a downstream effect leading to say a blood clot and/or dangerous interaction with medication.
Same here, you need to talk to people/do the research. Eventually you’ll come up with a list of doctors who appear quite knowledgeable in the field of bodybuilding pharmacology and/or harm reduction.
I deferred a year as I intended to travel around this year. Due to coronavirus and Australia barring citizens from leaving this plan never came to fruition. I don’t attend school as I graduated last year.
Well after more reading, and anecdotal data, I have decided to come off of ALL exogenous testosterone. He did recommend possibly running just HCG until my eye healed up, but I am not sure that protocol would be helpful given the severity of my CSR. My doc called in some clomid for me and I will be picking it up once it is ready at the pharmacy.
It seemed like my vision would get better for a few days and then get worse again the day after an injection, even at 150 mg/wk. So I guess I’ll be dealing with low T for around 3-4 months. This should be a fun winter.
One thing I was not a fan of was my doctors recommendation to just come off ‘cold turkey’.
I don’t see much benefit from coming all the way off as compared to running a TRT dose that puts you in range? If it is water retention, I would not think you would have much at say 100 mg/wk split? Maybe I am missing something? You plan on going back to TRT eventually, right?
I honestly didn’t think there would be much benefit of coming off of TRT either, but after I got the shot in my eye last Thursday, I remember thinking that this thing could be healed up in a week, that’s how much better my vision was. Then that night I pinned 75 mg Test C and the next morning, my vision was almost back where it started from. It could possibly be from the large amount of exogenous test coming in all at once, vs how the body makes a little every day. I’m not entirely sure. Maybe a SMALL injection of 20 mg/day would be ok? I don’t really know. According to some of the studies I have been reading, TRT/HRT is enough to make this happen AND prevent it from healing.
I want my eye to heal and be able to lift weights and compete in strongman again. I have been consistently lifting weights since I was 15-16, and I’m 32 now (I’ve only been competing in strongman for 1 year though), so weightlifting is a big part of who I am. I truly believe I have something special with strongman (I am at least another year off from competing at the world championships or getting a pro card, but it is definitely something that I love and I believe I could be highly competitive) so I am trying to do everything I can to heal as quickly as possible so that I do not fall even further behind the competition. As it stands now, I’ll be 3-4 months behind just waiting for my eye to heal, and time/age is definitely NOT on my side haha.
And I will absolutely be getting back on TRT once this is healed up. Even with a clean diet and adequate sleep, I was still running around with low test levels, and got put on TRT back in early February.
Sounds like you are thinking soundly on this. Getting your eye healed should be your number 1 priority.
I am also 32, and love the weights. I am only mediocre at powerlifting, but love the process and friends I have at the gym.
Once the eye is better, the gains will come back quick.
It is definitely driving me crazy, I’m not even allowed to do cardio
, but even that would be something. It if was an ACL or bicep, I could at least train the other half of my body.
At 32 I don’t feel old in the slightest, but I know this is around the age in which physical prowess peaks for most men. As far as power lifting goes, IIRC, statically you and I have about the same strength level, and I’ve got about 45 lbs on you, but in strongman, it doesn’t really matter how much weight you can do for one rep, it’s more about how many times can you hit a heavy rep or how fast can you move with a heavy object. From what I have seen, PL transfers really well to strongman, so long as you can learn how to move under heavy loads (moving events could be a real challenge for you initially), but strongman to PL doesn’t usually seem to work out quite as well.
Give strongman a chance, you might like it. And a guy with your strength would likely dominate under 200 lbs.
I will likely do a strongman event at some point. I am going to ask my coach to put in a strongman event in each of my 4 days of lifting. I did that when I ran the Cube method a few years back and it was a lot of fun.
I am friends with a couple competitors. My gym has the implements aside from the really obscure stuff like the Conan’s wheel. I have no excuse. I could also hit under 200 with a water cut.
A county fair near me does an outdoor comp every summer. I have had that on my mind for a while now (I believe it got cancelled this year though).
Can you give me some stats on how much better your lifts were before and after?
I considered doing cube. Would be a help if you could give me a short run-down if you got the time.
I think technically I used a version of Cube (I think it was Cube Kingpin, found in the 365 Strong book by Lilly). I used this calculator to generate my program.
https://blackironbeast.com/cube/calculator
I got good results on the program, but it was a tough program IMO. The volume day was always the hardest for me. It is a 10 week program (9 weeks with a mock meet week 10). I ran it 3 times, and I think I added 65 lbs, 45 lbs, and 35 lbs to my 3 lift total on the three runs I did with it (which I think is note worthy). I think I went from about an 1100 lb total to about 1245. This is just based on my memory, but I definitely put over 100 lbs on the total in 30 weeks.
It also took a long time to get through each workout. I would plan on at least an hour and a half. Squats day took over 2 hours.
I really liked that the program is pretty flexible. You don’t have to run the exact same main movements or assistance (although I only varied things a bit). I liked that each workout incorporated a strongman exercise. I also liked the variation in loading (each week you would do a volume day, a heavy day, a speed day and a BBing day). I think how the lifts rotated was pretty good for avoiding injury.
Overall, it was an effective program. I would recommend it.
Thanks, I usually get emotionally down for about 17 seconds, and then I think “well it is what it is and I can’t change it. How do I move forward?” That’s one of my greatest strengths in being a hardcore “future thinker”. It’s never about “well what do I do now?”, it’s always about “what do I do next?”. It’s also one of my greatest weaknesses because it is almost impossible for me to live in the moment and enjoy the way things are. But it this case, my forward thinking mindset is definitely working in my favor.
The doc knows nothing about CSR and he prescribed me Clomid. A quick google search told me Nolvadex is about the same with respect to eye sight issues. Maybe I’ll just have to come off cold turkey. If that’s what it takes then that’s what I’ll do. Sounds miserable but I don’t know that I have a choice
