Test Absorption Is Bad When the Thyroid Is Weak?

I just read a posting where someone said that TRT doesn´t work quite well if your thyroid is not functioning/ in a bad condition.

Is that true? Does the thyroid interfere with TRT?

When on topical and have an underperforming thyroid, yes absorption can become a problem. If you were on injections, then this issue would be moot as far as absorption. You can’t really metabolize testosterone in the liver well enough if thyroid is not on par.

Thank you! Well, I didn´t know that. I´m using gel (50mg) a day for two yrs now and my thyroid was never best performing. I have been starting taking levothyroxine 4 weeks ago but this thing takes time to get adjusted.

Some people with thyroid problems have conversion disorders that don’t convert the T4->fT3 efficiently and therefore T4 only treatment will be ineffective. In this case T3+T4 combo must be used for treatment.

I’m afraid you’ve been spinning your wheels, all that testosterone floating around in your body was underutilized.

Since starting TRT I always thought that I didn´t feel much difference. My values before were just a little too low, but my doc was ok with me wanting to try TRT. Now I will do the T4 for a while and check if I can convert it properly, have been reading about that conversion problem, too.
