Terminator Salvation *Spoiler Alert*

Roland Kickinger might get a second chance at Arnold impersonation. They’re putting him in the new Conan movie:

You know what pissed me off the most about the movie - why in the hell would they only send 1 terminator to kill John Connor when he is in the damned terminator factory?

Also it wasn’t Welcome to the Jungle as stated by the OP, it was You Could be Mine.

Make that a third chance:

He played a young Arnie in See Arnold Run - a made for TV movie about Arnie’s journey from bodybuilder to Governor of California. It’s probably how he landed the gig in Terminator: Salvation. Kickinger does Arnie suprisingly well.

Ah, I forgot about that! There are certainly worse things than being an Arnold impersonator.

I enjoyed the movie up until the last 10 minutes or so. FFS Christian Bale had a metal pole shoved through his chest (spinal area) and all he needs is open heart surgery/transplant in the fucking desert in a tent? I understand they were trying to wrap stuff up and tie loose ends but come on. It would of been better to have left the loose ends for the next movie or something.

I just watched it and fucking loved it.It was badass, like mad max on steroids.I liked how they blended in a lot of the things that were in the past terminators.Such as, the motorcycle terminator busting through the bridge and dropping down like in T2, Malcom the good Terminator busting out the windshield in the semi like the bad Terminator in T2, John Conner playing welcome to the jungle while rangling that motorcycle (same song him and that red head kid were playing while riding johns dirtbike around in T2), Kyle Reese, John Conner saying I’ll be back, Arnold fucking shit up while looking as good as he did in T1 (Obvious special effects).Oh yeah one more thing, whats with shooting shotguns one handed in terminator movies.

It was badass what did you think.[/quote]

It sucked IMO.

Hopefully they won’t try to remake all of Arnie’s movies using Kickinger.

There is a sort of explanation for the way things ended. McG has talked about an alternate ending in which John Connor dies and Marcus takes his skin - so, the John Connor that everybody believes to lead mankind to victory is actually a Terminator.

I’ve heard that McG filmed it and showed it to test audiences but it didn’t end up in the final cut of the movie due to negative feedback. McG has also said that his pitch included an outline for three movies, so for better or worse, he’s got an idea of where he’s taking the franchise.

I didn’t think it was a classic, but it was better than I expected. Reducing Terry Crews to a walk-on while giving Common a prominent role was unforgivable, though.

I had heard this as well. The test audiences supposedly hated the ‘original’ ending so much that they had to scramble to re-write and re-shoot to make the release date. I had also heard that the just the rumor of that ending had a lot of sci-fi board blowing up with backlash.

I’ve always thought McG was a really bad choice for the Terminator franchise in the first place.

Christian Bale must be thrilled at the idea of doing two more of these.

I agree. Went from big time movie to TV sitcom. Are you fucking kidding me. I saw that the blue ray was supposed to have alternate endings. Because this ending sucked big time.

Ha! I can’t begin to imagine what the really hardcore Terminator fanboys wanted to do to McG after that went public…

Agreed! I’d love to know who came up with the bright idea of giving the reins of the Terminator franchise to the director of the Charlie’s Angels movies (especially the sequel).

Also, I’m suprised that McG is the sort of director that Bale would want to associate himself with. You’d think that kind of combo would cause chaos on set

LOL. Well it’s his own fault. John Connor was only meant to be a cameo in an early draft of the script (it originally focused on the Marcus character), but Bale only agreed to do the movie on the condition that they expanded his role.

I think it’s safe to say that they’ll be hiring a new lighting guy for the sequels…

Well, he did say they were done professionally.

If only Bale would have directed his rage at the right person…

I suppose it could have been worse though. Brett Ratner could have directed it. Or Uwe Boll…I just made myself shudder thinking of that.

That’s spine-chilling. Luckily Boll seems to get off on directing video game adaptations, so we’re safe until they make the game versions of the next movies. Then Boll will get cracking on ruining the movies.

Mind you, I think Boll would stand up to Bale (unlike McG, who seemed to be in his pocket the whole time - especially during Bale’s rant). Criticism of Boll’s movies got so bad that he took on and beat four of his naysayers in a series of boxing matches. I didn’t realize the fights had been recorded until I looked them up after you mentioned Boll.

He still sucks, though.

Edit: Sorry, clip didn’t take for some reason…

I can access the link when I quote the post.

I heard a bunch of the guys that he beat later bitched that they were misled. They thought it was just supposed to be for fun/charity and didn’t realize that Boll actually trained for the fights.

After watching the video, I can see why. He really beat the hell out of that guy. Pretty funny.

I just watched it, and thought it was pretty damn good.

It’s a fucking Terminator movie. Don’t take it seriously.

I watched the Director’s cut last night and thought it was pretty damn good. I don’t know what the theatrical version was like, but I sure as hell don’t understand “it sucked”…because it didn’t.

If you are tearing apart the movie because the Terminator didn’t kill humans fast enough…where would the movie fit in if all chase scenes ended in 5 seconds?

That’s like getting pissed because there was drama in a movie.

It was a hell of a lot better than that last atrocity yet more people seemed to accept that piece of crap than this new movie.

T3 was nothing but explosions and CGI. The plot sucked. The acting sucked. The guy who played John Conner sucked.

Also, CGI Arnold was done extremely well and I dare someone to find a better full human CGI creation that looks more realistic. They made him look like he just rolled off the assembly line (looking like 1985 Arnold).
