That was not an accurate portrayal of the Taubes diet. Listen to the follow-up radio show I posted. The Oz show is about entertainment.
They used an Atkins approach which is not what Taubes suggests.
i’ve had taubes book “good calories, bad calories” for months and still havent read it

Obviously Oz was trying to make a point. Choosing pork rinds and pepperoni sticks would be akin to Oz only eating Twinkies and pop tarts. There are good and bad food choices on a high fat diet just as there are good and bad food choices on a typical “healthy” diet that includes lots of carbs.

i was under the impression that taubes told dr oz exactly what to eat to follow “his diet”.
i saw no fruit and very little veggies in the diet. if you LCHF guys are eating plenty of brightly coloured veggies and some fruits and just avoiding starchy carbs (except for around workouts?) and having fresh unprocessed meats, then all the power to you.
i know when i was eating the anabolic diet it was very close to what dr oz ate in that video, and i felt like shit.
You would be incorrect. Taubes said “the producers said this is entertainment…” essentially saying there was much more to the story than what made it on air
. In fact, Taubes said he spoke for a long while explaining in detail about controlled studies and SFA and how cholesterol is not just as simple as more causes disease, but all that was cut out, instead, they rather wanted to include Oz’s joke a 24 hr diet test
If this show was taped some time ago I believe Taubes or someone has an account on what actually took place. Maybe robb wolf has it or living la vida low carb has it but I remember Taubes and Oz were going at it according to the article. Oz has a group of people (researchers, lawyers, producers) who were just going nuts on Taubes and not allowing him to do what was agreed upon prior to filming. They had to pull them off stage at one point and have a chat because it was getting heated. I dont remember entirely what went on but I believe Taubes felt he walked into a trap and was made to look like a fool. I had the awesome pleasure of seeing Taubes speak and then did a Q&A with us, it was very informative.

I hope all of Oz’s fat-ass followers will follow him right down the yellow brick road into Oz - because the man behind the curtain is a fraud.
