Tattoos In Bodybuilding

Dorian Yates used to be a skinhead and had his removed (or covered)…remember the boot on his forearm. He didn’t want the attention it would attract once he was making a name for himself. Not saying that he was necessarily a neo-nazi type, but maybe more of an Oi skin. Of course, the red suspenders didn’t help any. This was way before he turned pro. Found it in a book on social issues I was using for a school paper years ago.[/quote]

Damn man, I like LOTR too, but damn thats impressive if its your back.

Thanks hardgnr. Yep, it is mine. It does cover my entire back and is starting to wrap around my side…left ribs have Gandalf and the Balrag during the fall. Not sure about the right ribs yet, but I have a couple ideas.

Left shoulder to elbow has an orc. Right shoulder to elbow has the Witch King…still need to put Eowyn on the inside of my bicep with whom he’s fighting.

Don’t think I’ll cover my front, but do have an idea for my chest just in case.

Granted, I’m sure a lot of people aren’t into a lot of coverage…especially when bodbuilding since it kinda “covers” the work they’re doing. But I’m me, and it’s what I like.

I just got 2 new pieces done on Saturday, guess that means I’ll never compete.

What are your new pieces, eigeinhamr?

I don’t have pics of them yet, but I’ll put up the originals they are based off.

This one is on the right side of my back, I would estimate about 20cm from top to bottom. It’s a bit hard for me to tell. If you look at the pics on this site, I did a print out from one onto an A4 page, and they made it about 10% smaller: http://www.sailorjerry.com/feature.php?n=downloads&r=675

The Ace in this picture was used to cover up a home done ace on my ankle.

i’d like to get a perfectly striated human musculature tattooed from my neck to my ankles…then i wont have to work out anymore.

Saying that they judge the tattoo is like saying that they judge you on the colour of your skin. It’s fucking retarded.

Plus, tattoos are damn near invisible with all the tan.

Eigieinhamr…nice Sailor Jerry work. Totally old school. Kinda pisses me off, though, seeing all these kids today with Sailor Jerry or Ed Hardy shirts and no ink themselves. They don’t even know who these guys are.

We don’t have that much of a problem here. There is one store I know near me that sells them, but it’s not a mainstream clothing store. You do see a little of Ed Hardy, but Sailor Jerry is expensive.

I’ve got 3 sailor jerry t-shirts, one hoodie and a pair of the leather converse ones. It’s a pity they aren’t low cut so they could show the ankle tat :D.

How do you go about training when you have new tats?

Yeah, the Ed Hardy shirts are quite expensive here as well. I’ve seen some shirts going for $50-70! And that’s just for the “aged” t-shirts.

I never had to change my routine whenever I got new work on my arms, shoulders, or legs. Just made sure to wear sleeveless shirts or shorts.

As for my back, however, I did have to change up my routine a little and put back towards the end of the week. Since I heal up really quick, I was always good to go by the time that day came around. I got the work done in five 4-5 hour sessions over a five week period so the impact was minimal.

Mines still quite sore, it’s painful to stretch the area (so no benching). I might just go in tomorrow and see what I can do.

I don’t know if the new airconditioning has been installed, and I know it’s not good to sweat a lot on a healing tat. We are starting to get days around 28C

raar. Hardbodies + tattoos. Sweet.

Welcome Bathory. Nice ink…a Star Wars sleeve, right? Looks awesome…something AngryVader on here might really like.

Yeah star wars sleeve on the left and Elizabeth bathory sleeve under construction on the right.

Thanks for the welcome

This is directed to those who say there is no place for people with tattoos in bodybuilding.
Basic training and my service in the military was about pain and struggle and my ink commemorates that struggle.

I guess fortunately for me they make make-up to cover my pride from closed minded people like those who would judge me for my ink. I challenge anyone to find a Marine without a tat. I’m curious to know if you would tell Lee Priest he has no place in bodybuilding?

I’ve recently spoken to an IFBB judge and they say only in a situation of a draw where the best have the same definition, build each will the one with a tattoo be negatively affected as there is no other way to pick a definable winner, this is only if there is a draw and until such they are not allowed to look at the tattoo at all in a negative light.

so all you have to make sure of is that your the best and you will win no matter if there is a inferior untattooed guy there you will still win it.

further more i say its a personal choice. as long as your tattoo means something to you its all good. trough out history there is many variations on body modification from scaring right trough to small amputations that was preformed as an act of right of passage and or to prove ones worthiness.

on the modern day scale its still very much the same from tattoos to honer ones loved one that’s passed on to altering ones body composition to be more appealing to the fairer sex. if its just a tattoo or its a full on life long dedication to manipulating your body’s composition its down to the person. beauty is in the eye of the beholder and as long as your seeing the beauty in what you do who gives a flying rats ass what anyone els thinks or says. its your body and its your choice.

if Michelangelo sprypainted his David statue in the begining it would still be beautiful as thats how the creator made him. one must strive to find beauty in all things thats the true test.

Lee Priest looks worse with tattoos.
