this common retort of people not caring what others think is fine, but is weird
do you think those gotti kids care what T-Nation members think? but it is fine to comment on it
the original poster was a little confrontational about it, but i think in general it could be a legit question, if two boybuilders were really close, would the tat effect the judging

This guy’s posts in this thread and others have all revolved around Satan and Hitler tattoos. I will be greatly surprised if this thread starter is over 17 years of age and even knows how tattoos are made or the effort that goes into getting one.
That makes his opinion on the matter pretty much null and void. Considering at least one past Mr. Olympia and several runners up all have tattoos, one can assume it means very little at all.
I have two of them, one on each shoulder. I like my tattoos and they are in an area where I can still dress professionally without them showing. I have NEVER made the statement, “why do tattoo-less people look so plain? They are doing nothing but being ordinary”.
I didn’t get a tattoo to fit in. I got mine on my own without any of my friends around. It took about an hour or two for one. I don’t remember exactly how long (it could have been 45 min), because when you are getting a needle pushed into your skin, time tends to drag a little until you either get into a different mindset completely and block it out (almost trance-like), or you simply allow your mind to be occupied by other incoming sights, sounds and smells.
the idea that everyone is getting tattoos just to fit in is a little misguided. This isn’t like a brand new shirt. This takes effort and the ability to deal with discomfort until you almost turn pain into pleasure.
It is probably the single most “awakening” experience considering the short time frame it occurs due to what it takes to get one. I wouldn’t describe this act as “weak”, unless that individual truly did get one just to be like everybody else. I didn’t.
No one I hang around did. I wouldn’t associate with anyone who simply got a tattoo to be like everybody else.
