You look great, my dude. Let us know how it goes

If bodybuilding contests interest you, give it a go.
Do you know what level competition you will be in?

You have good muscle separation more than a month out.

I’m a big bodybuilding fan and love the lifestyle but never cared much for the competition part. I’m gonna do this one and see how it goes. I wanna do true novice since it’s my first show.

amazing physique. well done. good luck.

You should do fairly well in a novice show.

I never much cared for the tension among competitors of bodybuilding contests. Powerlifting has a completely different feeling among competitors. Powerlifters pull for you to make a PR. Bodybuilders pull for you to fall down.

Consider yourself fortunate if you have a few friends who can give you an honest assessment of how you faired within your competition. Fans are of zero value.

You look great to me, but I have no idea what I’m talking about. @RT_Nomad is an actual subject matter expert, though, so it sounds like you’re in a great spot!

Great physique. Just keep this stuff in mind:

Thanks for the feedback! I’m gonna see how this one goes. If I really love it I can see myself doing it again. The prep so far hasn’t been awful but for about 5 weeks I didn’t know I was doing a show haha so maybe that helped. I just love the daily grind of bodybuilding whether I compete or not

Best of luck to ya.

Don’t forget: posing/ holding a pose is everything.
Practice that 1-2hrs every day WILL pay off.
(too often I see people just relying on their mass, instead of presentation…)

you look amazing, how did you do that so fast

Thanks! I don’t think it was that fast. I started with the idea of cutting some body fat in order to do a proper bulk. My coach thought I looked good enough to do the show about 8 weeks out so we’re doing it!

Here’s my starting point in august and then the other pic is like 3ish weeks ago.

How did you cut your legs up? Mine look like your August photos no matter what I do or how shredded my upper body gets

Pose them often.
Here’s the method that I found worked for me. Plant both feet firmly on the floor. Now without moving your feet, try to rotate the ball of your feet outward. You should see the long lines of your quads separate. It is a little trickier to get your sartorius to pull out. Here you open one leg a little and try lifting that leg forward without moving it.

Thanks man, good advice, something I never really do.

Oh yeah a couple months ago I tried dry brushing on just 1 leg and it noticeably worked. Maybe that’s something you can try to give you an edge because I’m pretty sure bodybuilders don’t do it!

Yup! I wasn’t even posing them in the first pic, didn’t know how to. I did get leaner and that helped but actually posing them showed the separation.

Now here is the challenge. When on the stage, if you are ever standing still and facing the judges, you need to have your legs flexed…. Every moment.

That is why I said pose your legs often. If it does not come second nature, you have nearly no chance of keeping them flexed on stage.

How do i get into competing? Your stats are mine 5’10" 175lbs 6% bf…i am in florida, tallahassee area and i would like to compete 1 or 2 times just for the experience and memories. I spent 3 years cutting on deficit from 220lbs down too 155 and then started lifting heavier again and raising calories clean…now i know not any other way to eat… hoping muscle memory kicks back in and i believe it is so i should be around 190nwhen compete.

Really appreciate the insite. You look great btw…i believe you have more leg muscle than i do, how old are you i am 42 but in the frame of a 25yr old.

I would def recommend hiring a coach to help you with competing. They can help you with the timeline of when to pick a show date. I had fun doing mine but it def is expensive with everything added in so keep that in mind but I was very proud of getting to show day and how I looked. I only took 3rd out of 4th in novice class (I was a middle weight against 3 heavies) and 2nd out of 2 middle weights. Some
Pics from the show. I loved being this lean but time to add some size!
