I’m not arguing against the 2nd amendment in any way, just curious:
What do you guys think that the founders - given that particular point in history - would have thought about something like concealed carry?

I think they were men enough to openly carry.
Concealed carry is just asking for problems in my opinion.
Display of force better ensures force doesn’t have to be used – though it tends to offend the bleeding hearts.

very true. The only reason carrying has become concealed is to avoid offending those who have an irrational fear of guns.
Also, the people who tend to conceal usually have ill-intent. I am thinking of federal goons who have to act “undercover”.

Well because not be infringed means not be infringed, it’s not up to government to tell us how to be armed, as long as we’re not endangering the next man.

Soooo…
I have been researching this a little bit, and now I feel the almost overwhelming compulsion to build me a little something.
As it turns out, you can make a homemade 9mm submachinegun for cheap.
I think, if I built such a highly, highly illegal device, a 0.223 caliber and a silencer is probably a better idea so that the gas pressure is kept relatively low and does not ruin my beautiful barrel and I could test it without attracting any unwanted attention.
Anyhow, with this device, the debate about gun control is practically over, because if anyone with half a brain can build one of these for less than 200$, how is anyone going to be able to stop that?
The picture is a BSP 9mm submachinegun, BSP stands either for British Standard Parts or Pistol. You can buy everything at a hardware store.

Given that particular point in history, I think the founders would have laughed at the notion of concealed carry being necessary in the first place. They would have asked, “why not just carry it around like normal?”
I like Reddog and Lifty’s first responses.

That’s pretty cool. Do you know where to find the specs for this gun? I would like to see them.

And I was not implying concealed carry should be illegal. Sometimes it may be necessary to do so but I would never want to be in a situation where it were.

Here, there are also designs for different SMGs and single shot pistols.
Turns out SMGs are the easiest thing to build, safe for a zip gun of course.
You would need a thread cutter, a power drill and a metal saw, that is about it.
Turns out the Chechens use something similar against the Russian army, the point is not to get into a drawn out firefight, but to whip it out, gun them down and take their superior weapons.

I am disgusted by the large guy who walks by and apparently does nothing. But if the victim had been armed he’d be in prison now, painted in the Media as a racist like Bernard Goetz.

I’m in favor of people having the right to carry, but most people can’t shoot for shit when they’re lying on the ground twitching and semi-conscious after having been cold cocked from behind. Had this guy been carrying those gang-bangers would likely have just become the owners of a shiny new gun. A weapon is no use without the situational awareness and skill to bring it to bear in time to make a difference.
Like I said, I don’t disagree, I just think this is a shitty example.
