In Richmond we have a street named after Jeff Davis that runs through a black neighborhood. And Texas has cities named after white men who killed Mexicans so they could keep their slaves. And have you seen the mascot for the Cleveland Indians? What the fuck is up with that?

Don’t forget Massachusetts! We have a town (Amherst) named after the General who came up with the idea of using blankets tainted with smallpox against the Indians.

Not to mention male fashion designers that say “oh, that’s so last year, that’s a total fashion faux pas” and other such un-testosterone related shit.
I’m still going with montana.Alaska would be top 5. I’m still unsure why cali and NY are still being mentioned.
I wouldn’t knock the france too much, they were a very powerful force that even england didn’t like fighting up until the 1700’s I believe. But if you wanna go there, they owned all of central and western America until we bought it from them.

The reason I brought up france was only because I get tired of the “Texas was its own country arguement” (I live with a texan and we had this discussion on many a drunk nights) because it has nothing to do with how the state is now.
I’m not sure what state to name on this thread but I do have to say it really isn’t CT. I know there are alot of members from CT here, which actually surprised me, but I have lived here my whole life, and really I don’t think it is CT

Somebody should’ve told them that yesterday! A win is a win, but come on! It’s the Cardinals for crying out loud.
Fixed that one for you.

Yes and no. All native Texans realize the soveriegn rule our state once had and Texas history is almost more highly emphasized in our schools than US history and world history.
The idea that Texas is still it’s own place, will still make it’s own laws despite outside influence (no gay marriage, a thumbs up for the death penalty etc) is still an idea in most citizens minds.
We are still our own place for sure, whether a map shows it or not. You’ll offend a texan by dogging the alamo much more than you would by ragging on the liberty bell or something.

One time my bike was stolen and hidden in the basement of the Alamo.
I think the Ozzman got a decade-long ban from Texas for his Alamo stunt.
