Abalone dot inlays.
This will get a Warmoth reverse headstock tele neck, gold hardware, and a pair of TV Jones pickups
bored in the house by myself tonight so taught myself to play Blackbird by the Beatles. Beautiful tune and very satisfying to play. Hereās the tab if anyoneās interested
I sing and play guitar for me, my band, and mostly a 7-string guitar in Drop A! ![]()
Here is a video of the lead I used in a song entitled āBeyond Eternityās Shoreā which is also the albums name. Enjoy the video and listen to the song here: Thanks!
Love the melody. Sounds great. I will have to check your band out.

Nice! Very melodic leadā¦
Steely is puttin that fat wide fretboard on a Telecaster body? The only Tele I ever held had a really narrow bottleneck convex fretboard. I couldnāt play the thing at all. Way too small for my hands. Forgive the interruption but itās time for a bit more of this guy who only players will really appreciate. Iām outta words.

Gold hardware is in.
Tirib-- that tele will get a maple/maple neck with big ass jumbo frets and a 10-16" compound radius. A thick as tree trunk neck.
You probably played something with a vintage 7.25" radius. Not much different than playing a broomstick ![]()
I just got back on this thread after a few years, Iām glad to see it still going!
Unfinished demo of a new instrumental track Iām calling Sanctified.
Need to add some more harmonies to the main verse sections and add another solo at 2:58 - just rhythm tracks during that part right now. Main lead break is at 1:42.

Good stuff. Sounds very professional.
Am I the only one who hears Crazy Train?

Lol - no, that main riff in F# minor is inspired by CT. And that opening trill up the neck at the start of the main solo break is right out of Mr. Crowley - but in a different key and position. What can I say - RR is one of my biggest influences⦠; )
Thanks Rampant!! : )

Nothing bad about RR being an influence! He really helped solidify classical influence on rock. Iām thankful for that.
I saw Guthrie Govan 3 times out here in LA! What a privilege! I just saw Meshuggah and Animals as Leaders too, Tosin Abasi is nuts! It was great!

Jaysus! I used a smaller peice of wood to pry up my front porch made of concrete lol.
When you have a neck that fat what kind of sound are you tying to get out of it? Is it more of a heavy rythym guitar for rock or metal?
Not sure if you folks in the US get this program but Iāve watched a few episode here and really enjoy them. Hereās a link.

The thickness of the neck has more to do with feel and sustain than the āsoundā. I donāt like super thin necks, so thicker feels/plays better. I believe a big hunk of wood for a neck helps to improve sustain (given other factors like nut/bridge/pickups). Thatās a great point of debate (like fat vs full house lol).
I just got back from 2 weeks in Toronto, so Iām going to try to get the hardware put on that neck this weekend. I been thinking about it the whole time!
