I am a 58 year old bodybuilder. I had some blood work done recently and my testosterone levels came in at around 350. Should I seek out the testosterone shots? If so, what kind of doctor is best for that? Thanks.
At your age, low T is assumed to be age related decline and you do not need to look for a cause.
TRT is not easy. Most docs are useless. You need to manage E2 and you may want to use hCG to prevent testes from having a 24x7 dull ache or simply to not have then become very small and have your scrotum pull up tight. Many feel better with hCG and it often improves mood.
You should do these labs before TRT:
CBC with hematocrit
fasting cholesterol
fasting glucose
A1C if overweight or glucose known elevated
AST/ALT
PSA
DRE [prostate exam]
E2
IGF-1 - optional
TSH
fT3
fT4
Vit-D25 - optional
After TRT, need these after 6-8 weeks:
TT
FT
E2
PSA - six months
AST/ALT
CBC with hematocrit
DRE - six months
