T and Ferritin

Been on T-Nation forever, rarely post.

43 years old. Lifetime natural. Former competitive track and field athlete. Very high stress business job at a publicly held company. Probably workout 4-5 hours a week.

Also - suffer from epilepsy (about 3 seizures per year historically).

Managed to keep decent strength levels (OHP and Snatch at 185, Clean and Jerk at at 265 most recently, front squat at 305, deadlift at 445x3, 10 strict pull-ups 6:45 2k row - at a fluffy but not chubby 215). Mostly on CrossFit workouts.

Got bloodwork due to energy and libido levels 7 months ago and came back with total T of 242. Went on 100 mg per week.

T has gone up to 990. Feel great. More importantly - no seizures. Maybe a coincidence - but literature shows an inverse correlation w t levels and seizures.

HOWEVER - in last bloodwork, my ferritin levels were very high, came back that I have hereditary hemachromatosis (very rare genetic condition that means I store iron). Will have to start withdrawing blood regularly.

Anyone else see issues with ferritin levels or iron and test?

I have to opposite problem, TRT crushes my ferritin.

That’s most likely why your testosterone is low.

I guess I will see when bloodwork is done, but would your assumption be that when they pull blood out - I might see ferritin drop (that’s a virtual certainty and why they’re doing it) and my T could jump massively?

And also - thanks for the quick and informed response.
