Syringe / Needle Brands?

Does it matter, or are they all pretty much the same?
Anyone have a preference?

Thank you.

There can be small variations but ultimately you want a syringe that is ā€œlow wasteā€ to ensure you get as much of the injection as you can. Nipro luer lock makes it pretty simple and they are all color coded. That being said other brands might be but I have no experience with them.

Easy Touch is popular brand.

Easy touch. I tried some BD ones, and they were trash.

For subq T injections:

I have used ā€œReLionā€ house brand insulin syringes from Sam’s/Walmart for 12 years. They appear to be made with same molds as ā€œBDā€. The #29 1/2" 0.5ml is suggested at ~$14 per 100. For peptides, #31 5/16" 0.5ml suggested. I think that the 0.3ml are too small to hand for most men.

Insulin syringes are basically zero waste. Do not get into changing needles or back filling - not needed.

I started off using Luer Lock style syringes, but much prefer insulin style. There is virtually zero waste with the insulin syringes, and no back and forth swapping needles etc.

I think the preference aspect comes down to gauge and length. I’m currently using 29g 1/2" .5ml, insulin pin, but I may try a slightly larger gauge like a 27g for quicker draws and injections. Also, I’ll probably try a 1ml syringe too. I have large hands and the .5ml with the plunger pulled all the way out feels a bit delicate when depressing during the injection.

Is the #31 you suggest OK for test cyp injections? I used this needle for 50mg subq yesterday and had no issues at all.

Funny you mentioned that…I used the 31ga yesterday for Test-c and it took a while to fill to .5 ml (my dose twice weekly), but seemed to work just fine injecting into belly. A little slow, but let pain than the 25ga I used before.

I suppose I should mention:
I’m doing full IM Injection, with 18g (draw) and 24g (inject) 1.5" needle.

I’ve used Nipro (which work good for me as I like how it locks in/out), but can not get them when I travel, so am trying to find other brands that I should give a try. Sadly, ā€˜BD’ is the only brand the local pharmacy stocks and that is the one that got a bad review here

One day I might go Sub-Q but I am hesitant for my first experiment with that to be while I’m abroad and far from a clinic/hospital :stuck_out_tongue:

Thank you all.

Decades of muscle damage is totally wrong. For IM, the smaller and shorter needles will produce less damage. Changing needles does not make any sense. You can draw and inject with #23 or #25 if you insist on deeper IM. Needles do not dull in rubber stoppers, try it.

I use nipro 1ml syringes. 22g to draw and 27g x.5" to inject. They work for sub-q or im, for me anyway. Very reasonable pice also.
