Quick Background : 31M / I’d say extremely fit (10% bodyfat with abs showing). Test was taken literally at 8AM this morning.
Testosterone in ng/dl is: 479
Also free test is gonna take about a week to get results because the lab sends it to Germany for analysis (Blood was drawn in Bulgaria).
These are tests that i ordered myself because i suspected low T or hypothyroidism just based on a suspicion i always had (nonstop fatigue/bad sleep/no focus). I didnt do a full panel because I figured I’d do one if i see a cause for concern and it would have to be with an endocrinologist and what he prescribes. I figured no point getting 50 things tested when low T/ Low t3 is gonna have me visiting a doctor asking me redo all the tests and more.
From what I can see everything seems within range but im wondering if it’s with these numbers TRT should still be an option to fully optimize everything and just function better overall or would I not see much of a difference? Curious if someone had similar numbers and decided to still do TRT and noticed a massive life change.
That being said if free T comes back low , or based on these numbers, would I be a candidate for TRT?
I’ll post the Free Testosterone results once uploaded, I was just impatient and wanted to get feedback on what I already know now.
Thanks
Just because your numbers are within range doesn’t mean that these levels are normal for you, this is something doctors just don’t understand.
If for most of your life your free T3 was closer to the top of the range and now it’s at the bottom of the range and you are symptomatic, this wouldn’t be normal for you.
That being said your free T3 is at the bottom of the range and could be causing your symptoms which can mimic the symptoms of low T.

That’s exactly my thought. In other forums… I’ve been told all my levels are normal and such but speaking honestly I dislike that my T3 is so low, and knowing that my total T could be in the 800s is a lot more appealing than it being in the 400s. How would U advise/suggest I proceed from here ?Thanks for your help btw
My numbers for total averaged about 415 ng/dL (3 tests at: 380, 390 and 470, FT was on the very edge of the bottom range for the 2 tests I did). I went on TRT, and it certainly helps in some areas. It didn’t help me with focus, or having much more energy, but my body composition is much better, confidence is better (not sure if that is the Test, or looking much better, both?). I think in general the guys who were really low get the most mental benefits, compared to the low normal guys. I don’t regret doing TRT, but it isn’t the panacea that some make it out to be.
Now I just do it on my own and call it a cruise. I didn’t see much point in paying the private clinic prices after I figured out how to source testosterone. I pull labs myself, and just stick to a protocol.
I wouldn’t mess with thyroid, unless you have a really good reason to do so.

Hey man thanks for responding. Glad to hear that it helped U. Personally I wouldnt mind some of the benefits such as the added confidence and better composition. My entire life Ive been metabolically slow in sense I can be up 10lbs if I want in a week of eating crap. Although I know that yes im not shut down and numbers are fine I do have this desire to possibly optimize. Like U said if the added confidence and body composition are what I get out of it I’d be happy. Also if it helps with recovery and sleep that would be life changing for me as I love to train and often my sleep is off, which I suspect perhaps has something to do with my low T3 levels. I’ll get some more opinions I think, and then find a decent doctor who understands this stuff and is willing to Optimize levels. If I dont do it now at 31, im sure I’ll be doing it at 35 and such. Inevitable.
Do you think over training is a possibility? That can lower your levels. My sleep does still suck.
Yea been told that too and wondered the same myself. Sucks though because I really do love to train and kinda wanted to do TRT on some level in order to recover faster and even start doing some MMA and such too in addition to fitness haha. Thanks for your help
Ok , so I wanna ask this to the community…
A lot of times when im cutting (counting cals) i tend to struggle to get very lean, almost like I always hit a wall/sticking point. Im curious how much do my “low” normal T3 levels play a role in this overall?
Difficult to say how much, be it can be a major factor, especially given some of the other symptoms you reported. Are you hypersensitive to cold?
Yes so on some level I am. When i was living in Canada compared to my peers i’d notice i get way colder in similar environments (I’d need more layers). Then when living in Poland through the winter, compared to my gf at the time when outside I’d be shivering nonstop and freezing compared to her. Even indoors others might be fine with jeans and T shirt let’s say, I’d need sweaters. Just an example. I wouldnt say hypersensitive but definitely sensitive to it.
Other T3 symptoms like bad sleep/lack focus are there, as well as easy weight gain. Naturally my metabolism is bad.
