Iām not well versed on schizophrenia (I know a decent bit about bipolar disorder though), do these people eventually snap out of their delusions? What brings it on, is it just shit luck, genetic, or drug induced/ PTSD induced.
I understand not wanting to live in a mental hospital for 6 yrs, that oughta suck (and it appears based on earlier posts OP actually did serve time due to stalking charges), but who in their right mind would let such an individual out?

Itās often has a strong genetic component. It can be induced through outside stimuli, like drugs. This is why you may have heard that marijuana, while relatively harmless to most people, can trigger schizophrenia in people with histories of psychosis. Itās not likely that drug use can CAUSE schizophrenia, itās more that the drug use can trigger the onset of a disorder that was already there. One can have a psychotic break due to drug use without it being schizophrenia, in particular.
And no, nobody āsnaps out of their delusions.ā Schizophrenia is chronic, and incurable, meaning it gets worse and no one can ever just power through it. You need medication. People who are medicated can live normal lives. You may have met people who have schizophrenia and youād never know it, if they were medicated properly.
Either he was medicated and showed improvement, OR, he was just prematurely released. This is why prisons are full of mentally ill people who should be in state hospitals. Itās just cheaper to throw them on the street and let them commit crimes, than actually try to rehabilitate and treat them.

Ye, I do believe alcohol is far more damaging than marijuanaā¦ Hooowwwwweeevvveeerr, I think there is something to be said about marijuana having a demotivating aspect in some people. My best friend (doesnāt live here) went through a phase where heād smoke weed multiple times per day (still does it often, but not as much) and he seemed much calmer, content with not doing much, and it appears to be fairly typical amongst hardcore stoners (note thereās a difference between recreational and medicinal use).
If I ever used marijuana (not confirming or denying), itād be to get the āhighā people consistently rave about, others use it for chronic pain, anxiety, epilepsy, other medical indications. I do believe that marijuana isnāt harmless when abused for recreational use and should thus be treated in a similar way to alcohol, although alcohol is far more toxic a myriad of organs, the effect of long term marijuana abuse of brain structure, development and cognitive function is still largely unknown.
As to psychosis, Iāve seen individuals experience what appeared to be acute psychosis (paranoia, not knowing where they were, what was going on or their surroundings, one guy thought he was in an aeroplane, and Iām just sitting there trying to calm them down and help them outā¦) all from smoking a single joint, typically these were people with familial history or troubled pasts (issues with child abuse, violence etc).
This makes me sad 
If we spend more money trying to rehabilitate the mentally ill surely thereād be less incidence of mass shootings (Iām sure lax gun laws has something to do with it but considering the percentage of mass shooters who were previously diagnosed as mentally ill Iād say thereās certainly something to it)

Pretty much nail on the head. My sister is a paranoid schizophrenic with psychotic tendencies. Sheās been that way since a drug binge about 25 years ago. Its such a sad thing to see. She went through some shit. Some nights sheād watch the white noise on a tv channel as it was God talking to her, she was Queen Elizabethās daughter, Elvisās daughter and John Lennonās daughter. Oasis wrote songs specifically for her with messages in. Oh, and the violence, lets not forget that.
Sheās fine once she takes her meds but the meds slow them down, pump them up and what woman wants to be heavy? So the cycle would start again. Sheās married now and her husband makes sure she takes her meds and sheās great, in fact they are the happiest couple I know.
