Supps For Thyroid

hey, i was wondering what supps would be good to enhance thryoid levels, especially the conversion from T-4 to T-3. i’m on Synthroid right now (low thryoid at 30 y/o), and am wanting to maximize the conversion to the more active T-3 form.

from what i’ve found at this point, i know guggol, tyrosine, slelenium, coleus foskohli and olive leaf will help. also, 7-keto DHEA, or anything else?

thanks,

Cyco

Well for what its worth Mine is low as well and want to avoid Thyroid meds. Its not crazy low but down there. HRX bumped it up a bit in a recent blood test. Not quite normal but up from where it was.

Also really try and nail a solid diet, training etc.

Was cruising by and thought I would give you my two cents for what it is worth. First of all I am a female suffering from hypothyroid. i was first put on Sincrap(synthroid) and later switched to Armour. My first thought for you is to get your doc to switch meds.

Armour is made porcine glandulars which are closer to what are thyroid produces. Syn-crap isa synthetic. If you get your meds changed, take subliqually or bucally. Do not swallow. Thyroid suffers usually suffer from digestive issues also so we don’t absorb in stomach.

The other method mention goes straight to our blood. You need to work your dose up so you don’t have a thyroid dump. Please stop by the site: stopthethyroidmadness.com and gather alot of info. B vitamins aare also a great help. I take Mega dose of Super B vitamins daily. I am taking the HOT-ROX Extreme, but I am careful with dose.

cool, thanks for the advice. i’m from Iowa, so maybe this is a mid-west affliction.

FL, did you try T-3 instead? since that’s the active form, i wondered if that would be worth trying…

This info is great guys, thanks! You can guess where I’m from…

I’ve been investigating this one too, as I’m just fat. I tried HOT-ROX Extreme and really, really loved it. The motivation, focus, and I was dropping pounds and gaining strength like crazy. I cycled with Alpha Male, and it worked and felt great too, but in uh, other ways  but losing weight became and still is a struggle, and the excess motivation is gone.

But if someone knew what combination of supps or whatnot, to use longterm to keep up that nice feeling and it’s thyroid benefits to keep that edge, oh man that would be cool…

Armour supplies us with T4, T3, T2, T1 and Calitonin. I would try Armour first. Not all people need to take straight T-3. Check out the site. Loads of information. Gives you things to suggest to your doc to do.

First thing is to find a doc who thinks outside the box and doesn’t always DX by lab work. Some doc’s are just stuck on lab work and don’t care how we feel. Although I am better than a year ago, I got a ways to go.

yeah, unfortunately i really don’t care for yohimbine (and yohimbe) side effects, so HRX is kinda out for me…thanks tho!

FL, thanks for the link. i checked it out, and see where you’re coming from.

i’m starting my second month of Synthoid, and am planning on going in to see the doc soon and talking about Armour, T-3 and Thylar (the T-4/T-3 combo).

i got back from Iraq a few months ago, and wonder if this is somehow related (i.e. adrenal fatigue), or if it was gonna happen anyway…

Cyco,

If you suspect AF, you can help support your adreanls by taking 3000-5000 a day Vitamin C, to bowel tolerance and drinking two 8 oz of water with Celtic Sea Salt 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon per day. I have been doing this since September 2006.

I am taking a hydrorcort for AF, but trying to wean off now. I am hoping I have my Cortisol up enough to get along. Stess causes alot of crap that we don’t realize. Look like you might have have a bit of stress. The above shouldn’t hurt you at all. Any more info. just let me know. I am usually on the Muscle With Attitude forum every day.
