Who are you referring to?
Are you saying Jesus was gay?
(Thought I’d ask before I got the wrong message.)
(If so, give me a freakin’ break!)
No, no. I was just referring to other threads that talked about Superman being gay or a “metropolis-sexual”.

Thanks for clearing that up, bro!

Whenever I see this kind of diatribe against America by an American (at least I assume because you list Michigan as where you are posting from) than my next question always is Why do you live here? There is a big world out there many places to chose from that are sympathetic to your views. I mean if you hate it so much here, it makes no sense to live here. I am not saying you can’t live in America and dislike it but you seem to loathe it.
Everywhere else sucks too. Many other places suck worse than before, since incorporating “The American Way” into their popular culture. But at least here I can bitch about it, and only have to face the same stupid questions such as these.

Stupid? Your the one that lives in a country you obviously hate. I was just interested in seeing what you reasoning is thats all. But since you called my question stupid then I guess I can tell you to fuck off. Man that felt good.

It’s funny to me that there are so many Christian overtones… as the creators were Jewish.

Uh, oh, guys, looks like one of Saddam’s Angels got loose! Hey, Kailash! So sorry your brethren in the middle east are having such a hard time… Here’s a little article that I thought might cheer you up!

Well, again…the Christ imagery is really not inherent in the early, original stuff. Supes is far more based on Moses than Jesus.
Later on, especially after his death and resurrection, we saw more of te JC stuff.

Those places would still be speaking English if it weren’t for the USA.

As mentioned earlier, the creator of the idea was Presbyterian (how the hell do you spel that?). The guys you’re talking about just adapted the idea for comics.
How can I accuse them of “lifting” the concept from someone else? There’s other evidence, such as Superman’s Fortress of Solitude which was lifted part-and-parcel from Doc Savage the 30s pulp character.

Actually, Zap, I thought it was flippin’ funny, and almost said so before remembering that we are like sworn enemies, or something.
But now that you’ve said it was dumb, I can let my true feelings be known.
“Haha, hubristic Americans saved everyone. Good one, Zap!” ![]()
(comedypedro: Joke’s related to WWII lore that Europe would be speaking German if it weren’t for America. At least one out of every 10 “USA #1” fanboys will try to tout the supremacy of America over Europe with this piece of fiction, at any juncture in time. Nevermind that it was Russians which licked the most Nazis anyhow.)

Well actually, Moses is a Christ figure himself. There are tons of parallels between Moses and Jesus’ stories. You can draw parallels between both of them and Superman.
I think you mean Christ is a Moses figure. Moses was first. We might as well call Supes a Balder figure, then.

No, Moses is a “christ” figure, meaning “messiah”. Jesus’ name wasn’t “Christ” ya know.
The word “christ” didn’t become associated with messiah until Jesus became associated with messiah. Because of the crucifix, “kristos” or such similar derivated related to the physical crucifix came to be associated with lord or messiah.
So, Moses wouldn’t be associated with the word “christ” as it didn’t yet translate to messiah.

Where’s the joke? Its TRUE! On the other hand, Hitler MIGHT have let you keep your individual national languages ( Ex. Roman Empire) but you sure as hell would be driving VW’s.

the guy said that we WOULD STILL be speaking english if not for the USA…
ie not that the US saved us but that it pollutes TV screens with american slang etc…
re read it…
