At least they brought a good half time show, The Who, glad it was a great classic rock band instead of Lil Wayne or something
Agreed.

Thank G-d for time shifting.

E*trade sucked, I hate all those stupid babies.
Thought the “2 rules” Doritos commercial was definitely the best one, E*trade second. Milk-a-What?!?
The commercials this year were the worst EVER… its so depressing I actually fell asleep at one point…
The only one worth mentioning was the baby and his two rules, least Doritos remember what a super bowl add should be…
In addition, I think the who were great years ago but I thought they just too damn old to still rock. flame me if you want but they were out of sync numerous times and all in all it felt lame.
The game was great with a great come back by the Saints, Colts came out strong then couldn’t do shit the last 3 quarters… WTF…
Commercials were atrocious, worst I’ve seen in a long time. The one I liked best was the commercial for the game Dante’s Inferno. Not because of the game, but because “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers was playing in the background. Love that song.
Oh well, a good game made up for lame commercials. WHO DAT!!!
I actually laughed pretty hard at one of the Dorito commercials. The one where they are in the gym, eating the Dorito’s from the dudes locker. And then comes Dorito Samurai out of friggin nowhere.

Anybody notice how many of the commercials in the first half were targeted towards men? Dove bodywash, docker’s pants, dodge charger, and shopping with your wife/girlfriend. Is there any message there?
How does this at all surprise you? The vast majority of people actually watching the Super Bowl are male, thus it makes complete sense to tailor the advertisements accordingly.
Doubly odd, then, that I found most of them to be a bit insulting to guys. For example, the message of the Dodge Charger R/T ad seemed to be: “Guys, you’re totally pussy-whipped at home, but at least you can still drive a manly car.” WTF? I would lower the toilet seat and throw my shorts in the laundry hamper out of respect - not because I’ve been subjugated. I certainly don’t NEED to drive a muscle car to compensate for a lack of manliness in other areas.
I think this is a good point. However, there has been a shift towards a more metro man, and maybe they are just trying to swing everything back to how it used to be.
And by more metro man, you mean gay.
The Letterman ad was the best!
IMO this was the worst group of Super Bowl commercials ever. I don’t think I found a single commercial funny or very clever.

I agree, and the rest were tied for worst.
BTW, I didn’t know Gene Wilder sang in a band.

I would imagine the better ad firms cost more…
doesn’t exactly work that way. in recessions most service firms drop their prices and find ways to cut their own costs. if they price themselves out of the market, it doesn’t matter how good they are. no one uses them.
Thought E*trade were pretty good, and doritos were pretty good on a whole. The dog one was an amateur commercial - cost $300 iirc. I laughed @ leno & letterman, too.
Worst commercials I have ever seen. Cmon, babies? Any marketing professional who suggests babies for a commercial should be kicked in the genitals (men and women both)
I thought Betty Whit and Abe Vigota in the snickers commercial was pretty good. Betty white can talk shit about someones girlfriend all day and I’ll laugh. And who knew Abe was still alive?
Dorito Samurai FTW though. That shit was clever.
Let’s just say I’m glad it was a good game.
