Personally, I do fine eating plain lean burgers or rolling up some turkey or ham slices with cheese and eating that way. However, the significant other is not so tolerant… Are there breads out there that are reasonable for like a turkey sandwich or a burger but with decent taste? Much as I’d like to just say “deal with it”, telling a pregnant wife what’s wrong with her diet has the potential to cause problems…and damage to my junk.

Thanks for the help!

Tell her to stop being such a drama queen (aka slave to her estrogen) and deal with it. Tell me how that goes !

That’s not so much a cheat food as a “just give up and quit” food.
Nowadays you can get Ezekial bread in all sorts of forms, from wraps to hotdog buns to regular loaves. I discovered the loaves seem to be softer if you don’t freeze them; just keep them refrigerated.

Well, I’ve got to add another one for Ezekiel 4:9 bread–sprouted bread, no grains, high in fiber, enzymes, Vit. & min., and low glycemic! There cereals are great too; perhaps the perfect carbs.
+1 on the Ezekiel bread. Toast it up for a sandwich and she’ll be happy. My wife is picky about bread and has given Ezekiel bread her stamp of approval.

What are you talking about, it IS a grain. The ingredients are wheat, barley, millet, lentils, soybeans and spelt.

HEY!!! it’s not a quit food! you are soooo harsh

Harsh? Maybe. So tell me, how are those cheat foods working for you?
I agree it sounds like a damn good treat. My mom used to make homemade bread and we’d slather it with margarine and eat it while it was still hot, so I love bread. I just know that right now I can’t have it.
And combining fats with high glycemic carbs? What would Lonnie Lowery say? Or John Berardi for that matter?

She is talking about a cheat meal which, by definition, is cheating against the parameters of her normal diet. Nothing wrong with some toast and butter once a week. Even throw some strawberry jam on top.

It is also an easy cheat to measure. I don’t buy a whole pizza, I don’t have a bunch of chinese food leftovers.
and dangit, like MODOK says, durn good, except I put on my mom’s homemade pomegranate jelly.
