So i’m on TRT for the rest of my life I guess, and I’m still young so I’m trying to figure out what s the best way to take the medication. Im on 180mg of Test Cyp a week and currently split it between two doses (Monday and Thursday). I watched a video by MorePlatesMoreDates on youtube saying that he takes his TRT SubQ in order to avoid test peaks and lows.
Any thoughts on this and if there are any significant difference between SubQ daily vs IM 2x weekly?
On twice weekly it shouldn’t make any difference. Everybody’s different though so it’s possible, just not likely. Most guys get a lower test level from sub-Q. Most, not all.
I can tell you how I would respond between the two different injection methods, but you can’t expect me to know how you are going to respond.
You’re going to have to find out the old fashioned way, try it and report back and tell us what the differences are. I aromatase more on SQ, IM is the only way to inject.
Is twice weekly an optimal injection frequency, well until you try something else, you’ll never know.
Most TRT patients, and those doing it underground, using injections, take 150-200mg once a week.
The best way to take it is based on what works best for you. If you are happy with the results you get with twice weekly injections, I would stick with it.
This may have happened to me. Sub Q was over 1300 ng/dl, lowered dose and went shallow IM and climbed over 1400 ng/dl. Nothing else changed in regard to test, like frequency, just the delivery method. The only other thing that may have affected it was I upped my thyroid med during that time. Not sure the truth to it but have read from someone on here that test clearance rate is affected by thyroid. It surprised the hell out of me when I got my results, as I expected levels to drop.
Edit:
Should add that I felt not a damn bit of difference between the 2 methods hormone wise. I just prefer shallow IM due to it not stinging as much as I felt with sub Q.
Theoretically, I haven’t seen any actual evidence of that though, and how even does it really need to be? you are on daily, it is REALLY unlikely that there would be any noticeable difference for daily guys.
Not exactly because half lives stack upon each other. And there can be difference for aromatization for example. @johann77 has posted some graphs for daily vs IM absorbtion
Yes, they stack on each other. That has nothing to do with IM vs Sub-q. With daily shots Sub-Q is not going to feel any different than IM as far as peaks and troughs, except that the steady state level is lower for most people on Sub-Q.
Which doesn’t have much to do with the OP’s question. Daily sub-Q is completely unnecessary for most people, the argument could be made it’s not necessary for anyone. The differences between twice weekly IM and daily Sub-Q are:
sub-Q will probably give you a lower total test level
2.You’ll use a lot more syringes on the sub-Q
3.You might not like the IM oeaks and troughs if you’re super sensitive or in your own head too much.
I think differences between daily and twice weekly can be very dramatic to some people with my sensitivity for example, yes I havent tried twice a week and all the logic says I should never try it.
On the other hand differences between IM and sub-q on equal interval should not be that big, except many people here tried both claim sub-q is more slow.
Also I personally feel much more comfortable injecting sub-q. You can put without thought bubbles in the syringe and also I know from diabetics fat tissue provides some protection against possibly contaminated needle
Bubbles in the syringe are no more or less dangerous either way. You have veins where you have them. It offers absolutely no protection against contaminated needles. Breaking the skin is breaking the skin, and this is just a stupid thing to believe.
