Strongman, training for Boxing (TX_iron)

What the heck is a reverse dip? Haha.

I wasn’t too sure what to call it, but I dipped without bending my elbows… not actually sure what it worked But it was worth a shot lol

Silly dogs, you never know what they’ll do next.

It looks like you’ve got the home workouts and the gym rotation figured out OK.

No kidding lol, and the level of determination is certainly respectable. she’s a wonderful dog but has some gnarly separation anxiety.

Yeah things are coming together - though my wife said my backside was shrinking a bit, so there are a few more pieces of the puzzle to figure out

I’ve never thought to take progress photos that way.

Heck me either, but I guess it’s time to start.

Monday - ME Upper
AM

Yoga flow

A1) Swiss bar pin press, eye level, dead stop
44lbs x 5
94lbs x 5
134 x 5
144 x 3

A2) seated cable rows x 10
A3) band pull-aparts

B) 15* DB incline
70s x 15, 13

C) farmers handle shrugs
52lbs/hand x 50

D) Axle curls
30lbs x 1 x 80 (curl PR)

Finisher) Tabata rouge echo bike

NOTES

  • Maybe I slept in it weird, but my back hurts pretty good today. Feels Like it did a couple months ago. I did a lot of yard work yesterday, so maybe that’s a contributor

  • whole Workout took 30 minutes, as I took no rest on the between giant sets and just moved from one station to the next

  • I’m sure the low weight has to do with a lot of acute things, but nonetheless me Press sticking point is at eye level, so I need to spend some time here

  • I keep adding a couple reps each time I do those axle curls. Goal is 100 eventually, so I can actually call them ā€œPoundstone Curlsā€

Ready for that ā€œachievement unlockedā€

Definitely. I just hope no one tells me that the axle he used weighs over 30lbs

I asked him, he said it was 5lbs.

Thursday - DE Lower

Mobility

A) Random jumps. We’ve got some China berry trees in the yard, and some of the seed pods are now falling so it’s a bit slippery over concrete.

B1) kneeling ab wheel roll-outs
20, 15, 10, 5

B2) walking lunges, 25lbs/hand
200’, 150’, 100’, 50’

B3) forward sled pull
200’, 150’, 100’, 50’

Finisher) ran out of time (got to chatting with the neighbors), but plan on hopping in the stationary bike for some LISS later… or maybe a weight vest walk. It’s still pretty warm though past like 11, my poor pup damn near had a heatstroke on the disk golf course yesterday.

NOTES

  • I really like following a lower body lift with the sled - the pump is real.

  • I added the extra 5/50’ foot out of pure convenience. My driveway is 50’, and with that extra distance I can return everything to the starting point.

  • Sort of missing squats and deads, but not really. Thinking about pushing the walking lunges instead. I still want a 500lb Deadlift, but the rest on the spine is pretty addicting.

I ran PCs walking lunge progression from Big Wheels, No Weights a few years ago (nothing fancy, just do a boatload of walking lunges then, next week, do 2 buttloads), after the first week or two, the pump got pretty serious.

Nice tip! I’ll have to check that out - especially since I don’t intend to buy more weights right now at these exorbitant prices

Done :white_check_mark:

Did it while listening in on a meeting and catching some Vitamin D (under a sun shade of course, because I’m not insane).

So far I’m still 10/10 on the committed2020 challenge

Hey man, we haven’t heard from you in a while. Is everything alright?

Hey partner! I really appreciate you checking in on me.

Things are actually going really well. Just juggling an old house, a 24/7 job, and an increasingly pregnant wife. Days are getting a lot longer, and free time is nearly non-existent. I’m not complaining, and am extremely grateful for it all. The things I’ve signed up for are just starting to take their full effect, haha.

Been training too, but bailed on the #committed2020 challenge opting for something where I didn’t have to mess with logistics or long sessions - ol’ Paul Carter’s 30 minutes to mass 5 day routine. I made a ā€œbarbellā€ that ended up weighing about 195lbs to make getting a home workout in even easier:

Glad to hear that my friend! Sounds pretty stressful but in a good way. As long as you do what you love, busy days are welcome.
All the best for the later stages of pregnancy! At the very least we expect a check in once your offspring is hatched

Thanks brotha! It is and the grey hairs are making themselves more known, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Haha, much appreciated. We just got another ultrasound and the little one was moving around too much to get many good shots - just like dad.

Definitely! Wouldn’t dream of anything less
