From that post you sound a bit despondent.
And what’s the significance of the radishes?

Eating radishes now.

You sound so serious… I wish we could just transport you to the part where you are completely rehabbed. The accessory work will make you stronger for sure.
Radishes?
I am serious.
But I’m not despondent.
Benching frustrates me.
Radishes are the new superfood. Don’t you know?

Hang in there little lady. The progress you’ve made in the past few months has been outstanding.

Today’s training was bench. Not much to say here except that I threw on a loose shirt (size 36) to give it a try. Did a few sets of five at, like, 37 lb. Okay, more than that. But not much. Then did reverse bands to three boards up to 5 x 120 lb. Taking that liftoff (the only point in the lift where you’re holding a good portion of the weight) was just downright frightening. After that, I did all the accessory shit that’s supposed to help make me stronger. I also did my own version of leg raises where I’m poised in a start position for a dip but I bring my legs straight up in front of me to 90 degrees and hold for a short pause. Those are hard for me.

That wasn’t fear - that was neural excitement. It’s just letting you know you’re pushing your limits again. You’re coming back, Snap.
I thought spinach was the superfood. But I guess Popeye cartoons are soooo 1950’s.
I thought it had to be horseradish? If you’re eating raw horseradish root, you’re a better woman than I am. If not, I have some in my garden if you want some.
I’m a vegetable lover, but I would choose lots of things to eat by themselves before radishes (OK in a salad, though).
I’ve never even held up 120. I imagine that feels like a shit-ton of weight, and good on you for doing it.
Sliced radishes left in vinegar, water and a touch of sugar are delicious.

Daikon radishes fixed this way, no sugar, touch of salt, are a mainstay of oriental cooking. Goes great with read meat.
Ms Snap, Do the Dune mantra while you’re benching: “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration…”.
Never did I imagine the conversation that would ensue regarding radishes.
Woke up and decided to cut my hair. Did it. I’m impulsive that way.
Harry: I will remember the fear mantra next time I’m under the bar.
Kimba: The bands are doing the bulk of the work with reverse bands. It’s more about pressing increasing weight (since the tension decreases moving off the chest) rather than how much weight is on the bar. Just a different way to work the muscles.
Tomorrow is DL day. Gotta get psyched up for that.
Snap - what tendon did you, er, snap? I missed it, and hel never tells me anything.

Snapped my supraspinatus off the bone. Bing. Just like that while warming up to bench at a meet. The tendon tore (full thickness) in a U shape and retracted like a fruit rollup. Surgeon reattached it to the bone and top/lower muscle tissue with five anchors and kevlar. He also did subacromial decompression to clean up the joint a bit. I gotta say that he did a damn good job and the fact that I’m relatively pain-free and benching at all is fab.

That was a very graphic description. I’m a bit queasy about things like that. It made me grit my teeth and clench my fists.
I’d love to see a pic of the new haircut. Is it too short to ponytail?

Beat me to it!
nice benching, now go do some heavy pulls!
Today’s training:
Conventional DL
5/70
5/90
4/120
3/150
2/170
3/195 (1.78x bodyweight, which was 109 lb. this morning)
I was disappointed in this set because I felt like my form was off. Craned my neck. Shot my hips up. Rounded my back a bit. You can see me slump over the bar at the end of the video in disappointment. Silly me. I got the reps. And in the end, this just isn’t a beauty contest on the platform. You get the lift or you don’t. No deduction for ugliness. I gotta stop thinking and just PULL.
Followed it up with super wide-stance squats. I’m still loving the hell out of these but [not surprisingly] going deeper than necessary at times. I hit the pins twice!
3/5/115
Then lat pulldowns and weighted hypers with a 45-lb. plate.
Other excitement in the gym was that the ceiling was dripping and an overhead panel about ten feet away from where I was deadlifting was bulging and threatening to blow. I stayed put in the event that I could get rich from a lawsuit. But no such luck. I pointed it out to a gym employee, who seemed pretty unconcerned. What do you expect for $10 a month?
My hair. Yes, it’s pretty bobbed. I can barely make two tiny ponies.
silly dejected snapper - those didn’t look that bad and they were plenty fast!

Does that you the bionic woman?
DLs did look a little random, but not nearly as gnarly as you made them out to be. Third rep was the oly one where I saw your back rounding. But then again I’m starting to appreciate the PL is all about stressing the minute details.
