Strip Clubs in Kansas City?

OK –

This is a beg for a little help from the community of men I think would know best. I am planning a bachelor party for my brother in Kansas City for next Thursday evening. The problem is, I have never been to Kansas City, unless you count going to the airport.

I’m looking for a little input on the quality of the entertainment (basically, which place has the hottest girls who don’t wear anything) for these gentleman’s clubs, which I found on the net at stripclublist.com:

Bazooka’s Showgirls, Diamond Joe’s, Erotic City, Goldmine, Shady Lady Lounge, Totally Nude Temptations, Bazookas, Show, Legs, & Satin Dolls

I figured if anyone would know, someone on here would know.

As a side note, I picked The Golden Ox as the steakhouse for dinner; I’m pretty comfortable with that pick, as it got lots of high ratings on Citysearch.

Oh yeah: Anyone have any recommendations for good bars in the area where Golden Ox is?

Thanks very much.

Bazookas has been labeled “a freakshow” (uneven breast sizes, body hair, etc.) by a helpful person on a PM – which, in our case, puts it off the list, but judging from some of the threads I’ve seen some people like that stuff… – any other input?

I’m from K.C. but don’t drink or go to strip clubs so can’t help you there. But if you’re going to be there a while and want some other places to eat in K.C. try Manny’s (mexican) or Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue.

Personally, I like the Hereford House better than the Golden Ox.

I haven’t been to K.C. for 15 years, but last time I was there there weren’t any good ones in Missouri, you had to cross into Kansas.

I don’t remember the name of one I was in there, but it got pretty wild.

Anyone else with any words of advice in response to my bleg (a word coined for begging for info on weblogs – not sure if it’s strictly applicable here, but it works for me)?

I have been told there is a place called “Ziegman’s” that was good 2 years ago, but it was since renamed and the person did not know the precise address (the condition in which some people visit gentleman’s clubs does not lend itself to sharp memory function) or the new name.

Bazooka’s and Temptations are definitely the most popular strip clubs downtown.

For good steak, you may also want to consider City Tavern (Located at the Historic Frieghthouse next to Jack Stack).

KC is a terrible place to go for nudie bars. The drinking/nudity laws screw it up big time. If you want to drink they can only be topless, but they can give you lap dances. If you want full nude, you can’t drink and they can only give table dances. If you venture to Lawrence (KU) apparently they have some crazy ass nudie bars.
Depending on your scene, the Plaza is uppity with hot chicks, Westport is a bunch of bars with a younger crowd, and River Market is trendy with credit card hippies. The entire town is covered in $20K millionaires.
Any KC steak place is good, Jack Stack is the best BBQ that can pass a health inspection, otherwise it’s Oklahoma Joes.
In a nutshell, the Plaza for a hotel and bars is your best bet all around.

That’s probably the best description of KC nightlife I’ve ever heard!

I haven’t frequented these lovely places for a few years; however, I have extensive knowledge of a few places.

My favorite was Diamond Joe’s, which is close to the Harrah’s and Ameristar casinos. It’s topeless w/lapdances ($20 will get a nice lapdance and plenty of attention). I’m not too fond of the bottomless places unless you can be sure that the girls are top notch. In that regard, I’ve heard a lot of great feedback about a place in Lawrence, KS (just 1/2 hour outside of KC) called The Outhouse. The Outhouse is full of KU college girls, is totally nude, and you take your own beer in with you.

Bazooka’s is a very popular place and will sometimes bring in some quality talent; however, no liquor served. As previously mentioned, on the Missouri side of KC, if a place goes nude you can’t have liquor.

I think Diamond Joe’s is your best bet if you want to hit he casinos. I have a lot of good memories from that place and have partied with some of the entertainment after the place closes.

As for a good steak, I agree that Jack Stack is awesome. I’d also recommend Herford House downtown or in Leawood (either is awesome). If you want dive BBQ, hit Arthur Bryant’s or Oklahoma Joe’s.

I’d avoid Totally Nude Temptations, Tango’s, and the Million Dollar Fantasy Ranch.

PM me for any other detail. I work downtown and live on the KS side, so I’l be around.

Have fun!

Wow, thanks guys. All I ever needed to know on the KC nightlife and more. =-)

I have pinched a source in KC who tells me two places with high-quality entertainers are The Shady Lady and The Show – ever hear of those? Good or bad?

jackzeppelin: I would love to get your further insights, but your PMs seem to be turned off.

Are you guys all f*cking retarded?

Lawrence titties are likely too far away unless you have a limo to escort you around all night. KC is big and spread out (especially if you drive to f*cking Lawrence), so you may want to pick your destinations based on proximity.

Plaza III has the best steak in town. PERIOD. Even Yaya’s is better than the Hereford House. Haven’t been to Golden Ox for years, but it used to be on par with the HH (back when the HH was good). How much do you want to spend on dinner is really the question. Plaza III is very pricey but is right there such that you can play with all of the uppities. And then Westport is right up the hill. Somebody nailed the bar scene. Westport is a solid bet for a careless night of drunken ass-grabbing. Note the cops on every corner and frequent placement of ambulances - nice.

Even though BB did not even ask about BBQ, Gates & Bryant’s tie for best. Now STFU.

Irritated at you guys for misrepresenting,
Bastard F*ck Guy

In case anyone cares to know, the steaks at The Golden Ox were good, although the decor and the wait staff were reminiscent of “Old Vegas”, as in the part of Vegas that is downtown, not the strip (including the Golden Nugget and all those places), and The Show is definitely a second-class joint, although they have some decent talent and it’s better if someone in your bachelor party knows the manager (good for a few free lapdances and access to the VIP room…).

BTW, my head hurts. Anyone have instant home remedy recommendations for hangovers?

Hair of the dog bro…

Well, I would’ve never dreamed of going to the Ox. I used to do 3am breakfast at the Ox in my college days, but I can’t imagine eating there sober.

As for The Show, like I mentioned in my PM, I’ve never been there. Should’ve gone to Diamond Joe’s man. The Ameristar Casino has some pretty good eating establishments too ~ at least, better than the Ox.

Oh well, I’m sure you had plenty of fun.

Thanks Jack –

Also, Arthur Bryant’s was some damn good BBQ – however, I consider myself lucky to not have gotten any bullet holes in my rental car on my way to and from that place. Cool old pictures on the wall - my favorite was Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter.

Did that area used to be by the old football stadium?

Ha! I know what you mean. That particular area is fairly harmless, but it’s good to be “aware” of your surroundings. The food is worth it though ~ ok, maybe that’s a stretch.

I do believe that is the area of the old stadium. Long before my time though. I think the stadium was a little further East of Arthur’s though.

BB - glad you dug on the Bryant’s. As you noted, it ain’t the kind of place you frequent after dark. But damn it’s worth it - slab of meat on a plastic tray with a pitcher of Boulevard Ale! Booyah
