You are one impressive woman. Hope the recovery from the accident is going well.
Did you build a one hole or multi hole outhouse and how many people fell in the pit before you finished?
Congrats on the new gym. Going to be a lot of jealous people here. Is it going to heated or are you going to tough it out when the temps there are colder than my freezer?
Handmade Christmas presents are nice. Did you weld up lifting equipment?
I know you’re always busy but have you ever considered making those metal sculpture animals out of scrap? The animals at the local flea markets and shops here sell to tourists for some serious $$$.
Hope this year is great for you.

Well, thank you. Trying my best!
The accident in question was our best friend, who busted all his vertebrae from T10-L2 in an atv accident. He has two 8" rods and 12 screws in there now. It will be a long road to recovery. He and his wife have three daughters, so we have been trying to do anything we can to make their lives easier and lift their spirits. He’s doing fantastic, all things considered.

We made it a two-can-go! Everyone can hold hands and poop together. Kumbaya indeed.
I was in the hole most of the time during construction, hand digging it. There was no room down there for the leverage of a shovel.

Thanks, I’m pumped! It’s still in our attached garage, so very minimally heated. It stays about 40F in there if the outside temps are below freezing. I have a 185K BTU kerosene torpedo I run for a 10-15 minutes while I stretch to bring it up aroud 50F, then switch it off while I lift. It’s cold enough in there I don’t sweat. That’s a new interesting feeling.
I don’t think I’ve built any equipment that you don’t know about, but I did have to do a lot of work to get my gym where it is. I’ll probably make a whole post about it.

Every other year I get this really shitty idea that it would be awesome to make some custom gifts for my family. I always get the idea about three weeks before Christmas which is why I end up hating myself. And Christmas. But this one was a great Christmas, I was stressed out but actually enjoyed the process most of the time. All the gifts were personal, one-of-a-kind, and loved by their recipients. Doesn’t get better than that.
I have thought about making metal sculptures. Not necessarily always animals, and not to sell either. (I have a strange phobia of selling stuff I make). I don’t have a plasma cutter yet though, and until I do making any intricate shapes would be near impossible. Usually I use a sawzall to cut steel, but so far I’ve only made stuff requiring straight cuts. My Mr. knows I want a plasma eventually. So I’m sure it will happen when the time’s right.
I hope you have an excellent year as well!
Great to see you back!
AAAHHHHHH, The Queen of the Northwoods is back…about time, Lady:)) …Wishing you a successfull and injury free training year.

A light but solid first week back in the gym. I think my weight is back up around 160. I was perfectly content to eat all the things for Christmas. Not a big deal, but I’m noticeably softer and thicker. Not for long.
Keep up the great work! You can do it!!!

Lots of high intensity shoveling going on around these parts. Shoveling in this quantity really fatigues my lower back, so I don’t lift weights on those days for safety’s sake. For the last month we’ve been averaging 16" a week, so no shortage of hard work. Sweating like an animal in my carharts, with temeratures below zero. I call it ‘character building’.
Also, I’ve signed up for an adult swim clinic that starts in March. I’m 31, and I can doggie paddle short distances. It’s embarassing. Looking forward to being a better swimmer!
Nice to see you around here, Matron! I hope the Northeast gets a break from blizzard season soon. I miss seeing your gym creations.

Thanks! I’m hoping to have my home gym mostly put together and show-ready this weekend. My trainer wants some pics and you know I’ll put them here, too ![]()

Normally I’d superset the pull-ups and dips with abs and curls.
I had about 3" worth of shoveling to do which isn’t much, but involves plenty of direct core/arm work so I did my big stuff in the gym and finished outside with that.
To give you an idea of how cold my garage gym gets lately, I went to move my keg the other day and there are chunks of ice banging around inside it. Whoa.
Oops, forgot these:

Been feeling ill lately, nutrition is lacking, dehydrated too.
Felt it tonight, glad I lifted anyways.
Also, finally installed my TRX straps after a major fuckup on my part months ago that I just got around to fixing. Nice to be able to use those again. And my stove and oven. I was drilling around to find a joist to put an eye bolt so I could hang my straps from the ceiling. I found the 220 line to our range. Been cooking on the woodstove/grill ever since, because don’t give a damn. I don’t bake.
All set now just have a drywall patch on my to do list ![]()
Nice to see you logging again!
I hope the 220 line wasn’t live when you “found” it!
