ARGH I hate when there are 5 in the lane all slower than me. Didn’t go more than 3 lengths without being held up, couldn’t time it properly, so frustrating!
Been a bit slack updating the log. I have done a couple of runs got out on a mountain bike for the first time in 2 years (was a bit wobbly in the wind not gonna lie), but nothing to shout about. Had a few days off, mostly because of laziness so time to sort that out. I have just over 1 month until the triathlon so time to smash the training and work on getting down to 85kg.
7.5km run roughly 43 minutes.
On paper this looks slow, but I decided to head towards the woodland round the back way of my flat, to make a change from running in the streets. Did not realise I had such a long stretch of woodland through the valley so close to the city. My favourite route since I left Durham. The time was slow as I had to stop to find my bearings as well as parts of it were really slippy due to the mud and I struggled on the steep descents. There were a lot of hills and 95% of that was all in woodland and countryside. Will definitely go out that way again. Hopefully this evening I will get some core work and sprints done and take advantage of the day off work.

3 minute run at 13kph on treadmill, again cramp in my fucking calves, don’t know how to solve this issue!
I got a cramp in my right calf at training about 3 days ago, and today it is still tight. Im going to take the new 36 hours off to see if it helps.
With all that extra cardio, are you taking any zinc & magnesium supplements? Is the weight dropping off?

Yeah calf cramp is really annoying.
I take ZMA, vit D, fish oil whey and creatine at the moment as my staple supplements. Not checked the weight recently, plus training has been hit and miss recently. Hoping to have knocked a couple of kg off though.
Suffered from a cold at weekend, so didn’t do much as I wanted to recover as quickly as possible.

Light swim
200m warm up
4 x 200m freestyle. Think pace was solid, but didn’t time as was interrupted due to 6 people in the lane. Swimming club train every evening now so there is very little room.

Cold pretty much cleared now. Ate a bit too much as it was my birthday today.
9.2km run in 43:43.
Getting faster, had more in the tank and was a bit unlucky with traffic at the crossings. Confident I can get sub 40 within the next month if I am not stuck at crossings. May pause my stop watch when waiting from now on.
15 minutes ab and core work. Kept it light as I just feel sore and drained. Have Monday off next week so going to enjoy a bit of social time and catch up on sleep. Too many nights with less than 6 hours sleep this week.
AM
Agile 8
12km bike ride (mostly through the woods)
6.3km run.
PM
5 rounds of:
30 burpees
30 bicycle crunches
Had day off work so used it as a good chance to get some training done. Had no issues with cramp in my calf either which was nice. Really need to step it up with the running. Really considering going back to rowing this Summer, so will try and keep strength training up best I can.

Glad to see you are still at it! Training looks great!
Thanks man, been a bit slack the last couple of weeks, but I’ve come a long way the last few years. Good to see you posting again too, will definitely be following your log for more inspiration.
Insert:
4 rounds as fast as possible:
25 KB swings with 20kg
20 knees to elbows
Strength Work:
Romanian Deadlift: 60/5, 80/5, 100/5, 120/3 (probably a PB, had more there just struggled with grip doing double overhand)
Military Press: 40/5, 60/5, 65/5, 70/5, 75/3 (solid bearing in mind I have been a bit slack on the weights recently)
Weighted Pull Ups: BW/8, 10/5, 20/5, 25/5, 30/3, BW/11 (Definitely getting better, think weight loss is helping)
Swim:
200m warm up
500m freestyle
300m freestyle
Got kicked out due to swimming club, but planning on doing bike after anyway so worked out ok.
Stationary Bike:
60 minutes at 204 watts per hour.
Treadmill:
1k at 11.5kmh
Notes:
Was tough doing such a long session, but need to get used to the transition, plus did greater volume on the swim and bike than I would do in the triathlon, but was impressed with the pace. The run was cut short as I felt a bit drained and was starving as had not eaten for 6 hours. Definitely need a mid afternoon snack if doing this distance again and also probably get a couple of sport drinks or snacks for between each part.
