no need to worry. The kirkland brand minoxodil is a TOPICAL dht blocker not oral. So it wont have a systemic affect on you. It will only work locally on the area to which it is applied. Safe. The ONLY thing i hate is the annoyance of applying it every day once or twice a day and that if it gets onto the hair itself, it can make the hair a lil crisp.
I was using rogaine foam and the foam always saturated the hair and not scalp as much and this would turn my hair kinda crispy. But the liquid drops with dropper is much better as it can get directly onto the scalp and bypass most of the hair.
I really should have started using this stuff when i started TRT,⦠it would have retained most of my hair. But still only a couple weeks in and i am liking the results. If you DONT use it⦠then your hair will keep falling out. When i stopped TRT without any PCT my hair was still falling out even weeks after stopping⦠i dont know if its cuz it took forever for DHT levels to come down or if i kinda had already activated my balding process and nothing would stop it now even if i stopped TRT.
anyways,⦠the minoxidil is a must if you want to help yourself and dont worry about any PSSD or finasteride like syndromes as this is applied topically
I have heard about the topical products causing sexual sides as well. Not the minoxidil but topical finasteride still causes issues. It still soaks into your skin and gets in your system the same way. Iāll research this product specifically though. Thanks for the feedback
Yeah finasteride is bad, Iāve heard a few cases fe minoxidil as well but not near as many. Propeciahelp has a few people on there with issues from it but I may have to do somethinf
So the dr does not thank its male pattern baldness because there is no pattern to the thinning. He thinks it could be shedding due to either the hcg or anastrazole. He is simplifying things by lowering my test some, eliminating hcg and anastrazole for a couple of months to see what it does. How many of you got testicle shrinkage from test only? Does that cause your scrotum to shrink too??
So itās been a couple months and my hair is still thinning on my new protocol. Itās gotten pretty bad so I think I may stop for a while and see if I get can get it regrowing. If I knew it would grow back or atleast not get worseājust stay thin and not bald that would be one thing. It sucks because with test only and a small amount of test cream I was feeling great. My dht is still in 40s but my hair is thinning bad
I used Minoxidil for 3 years and it didnt really make a difference. I used the mousse. I did have a bout of ED 1.5 years ago, and dropped the Rogaine. Im not 100% it was an issue but I wont touch it anymore. Anyway, I have heard of the AI causing hairloss if your E drops too low. E helps with Keratin health so take that into consideration. Ive been ready to rock a bald head, yet it seems to not be thinning as bad anymore. Will be shaving it though.
So yours thinned to a point and stopped? Iād be ok if it stayed how it was but If it keeps getting worse Iāll be in trouble. Yeah all of the dht blocker shampoos can definitely cause sexual dysfunction . I wonāt touch the normal ones. I may try cycling off for a while and see if it thickens up⦠donāt know what else to do if I want to keep my hair
Not who you responded to, but your best bet is minoxidil. Youāre already on propecia / finasteride. That will very likely stop further loss as long as you keep using it. You may gain some back over a year. Some get great regrowth, but most get about 10 percent. Minoxidil is a better growth stimulant. You also have to keep taking it or you will lose you gains over 6 months.
I take a very low dose of oral minoxidil (2.5 mg/day), since the idea of applying it to my head twice a day was untenable to me. Do your research on that one of you are thinking of trying. Itās not something to mess around with if you donāt know understand the research. Oral does seem to work better than topical. Iām taking 1/4 of the starting dose for a guy my size (they will go up to 80-100mg). About 1 mg oral is equivalent to the 5 percent topical, which is the strongest you can get over the counter. It is also a very strong blood pressure drug. They discovered in the clinical trials that the participants were growing extra hair. Decided to make a topical which was called rogain. It has a black box warning in the oral form. That being said, lots of people use it for hair loss in low doses, and research points to it being fairly safe in low doses.
Yeah Iām still on a similar protocol with just lower test. My hair thinning while not improved did stop getting worse. As far as libido and all that Iām better than I was but not normal. As for If you feel the same way I do, Iād also look at your finasteride. All this started for me with antidepressant usage and I know finasteride can cause similar symptoms. Id be careful with it.
I never realized people can become so overwhelmed with losing their hair. Not judging or making fun, but I didnāt think it was such an issue; just another element of aging. When I realized I was losing my hair (early thirties) I just went āhuhā and got a 1mm buzz cut all over.
Pro tip - the shorter you cut your hair, the less bald you look.
Same here. Used to do Mohawks and all that. I am not even balding but have a receding hairline. Started buzzing it or cutting very damn short. Not even going to bother with any comb over nonsense or any of of that.
Donāt be combative. It wonāt get you anywhere but ignored. He wasnāt targeting you just offering a different perspective.
From my research and personal experience, once its gone its gone. You CAN certainly slow down the rest of it, but those DHT blockers have bad side effects. You were likely going to lose it anyway and TRT could have sped it up but then again maybe it didnāt. Maybe its your time. If hair is that important, start saving for a transplant. The hair from the donor areas are DHT resistant.
I think hair loss and how effective the drugs are fall on a spectrum depending on the person. Someone like me, probably wouldnāt see hardly any loss if natty until old age. Blasting and cruising for a few years I started to see just a bit of diffuse thinning around the crown (actually was pointed out by a buddy who blasts and uses drugs to prevent hair loss). I think I noticed this around 34. Because my genetics for hair are pretty good (I actually had a guy a few days ago say I would never lose my hair randomly. Also called me a viking, which was cool haha), and I caught it early, the drugs are pretty effective. My hair is thicker than it was when I started taking finasteride. Iāve mostly been on TRT doses, but did have a blast of 875 mg/wk of Test in there.
On the other hand, if a guy is a Norwood 4-5 in his early 20s, he will likely not get much regrowth on finasteride, and will be lucky to maintain where he is since his hair genetics suck. If he goes on TRT or decides to blast and cruise, it is going to be difficult to keep hair. For regrowth minoxidil and finasteride or dutasteride will be more effective than just the 5AR inhibitor. The minoxidil will also help maintain as long as it is used. But for a guy like this, a hair transplant is probably the ticket along with a 5AR and perhaps minoxidil, along with staying away from AAS.
