Stopping TRT - HPTA Restart Update After 1 Month

Hello, I’ve been on TRT for the last two years and wanted to try to get off it for fertility reasons and a few more.

While on TRT I’ve been taking 100mg / week T enanthatate and 900 IU / week HCG. Since I’ve been taking HCG during the whole time while on TRT for the PCT I decided to skip the high dose HCG part of it.

My last dose of T was July 25th ( so 1 month ago ). Starting July 26th till today, August 24th, I started taking 10mg Nolvadex daily. I ran my blood tests yesterday and the results aren’t very promising.

Total T : 108 ng / dl - Range 280 - 800 ng / dl

E2 : < 5 pg / ml - Range < 38 pg / ml

So first question, maybe my PCT protocol was too mild for someone that has been on TRT for 2 years. I was thinking maybe I should have added clomid too to it. Thoughts?

Second question, do you think it’s worth continuing and do I have any chances to recover. If yes, how would you continue from now on?

Any input is much appreciated.

Do you know if your Nolva is legit?

FWIW, and not medical advice. I know a guy who ran good amount of AAS for 18 months straight. 600 mg/wk each of Test, Tren and Mast. He recovered, but he ran SERMs for 6 months straight. He choose Clomid. I think he ran it at typical dosages for a PCT initially. Something like 50 mg for 4-6 weeks, then halved it for a a few months, then halved again for a few months, then off.

Yep, the nolva is legit ( pharma grade ) but probably my dosage too low.

Thinking of upping it to 20mg / day and adding clomid too to the mix.

This is your problem. It takes at LEAST 4 weeks for your Test E to clear your system completely. You started your Nolvadex TOO SOON. You should be starting about now and the dose should be about 20mg / ED. Discuss with your doc.

Thanks for the reply! @blshaw

I forgot to add that the last two weeks on TRT I lowered my T dose from 100 mg / week ( split in 4 doses ) to 75mg / week ( split 3 doses at 25mg each ). So my last T injection was 25mg. I thought since the half life of enanthate is 4.5 days it should have cleared out pretty soon.
Might have been wrong though so looking for advice how to continue from now on.

I’d just stick with Nolva at 20 mg for awhile. More isn’t always better. You could do 40 mg for a couple of weeks.

To clear to very low levels, yes. On TRT doses, I think 2-3 weeks is enough. Even on 200 mg/wk Test E, if we are generous with a 7 day half life (it’s probably closer to 5 days), after a week the effective amount in the system is 100 mg, two weeks 50 mg, three weeks 25 mg. I think that is low enough to start a SERM PCT.

I agree though that he started too soon. It is possible that he really has only had somewhere between 1-2 weeks with a SERM that is dosed too low for starting the PCT.

Test enth is quoted from some sources as 4.5 days and others as 7-8 days. It takes 4-5 half lives for medicinal clearance to which I usually go by 4 for PCT purposes as you have about 3% of the drug left at that point. @mnben87 makes a point that 2-3 weeks may have been enough, but regardless you started too soon. So… worst case you just wasted a little Nolva. Discuss continuing PCT with Doc at the higher dose.

Makes sense, much appreciated!

Why the test c/p mix?

I’ve been thinking about switching to test u, but it’s 50 percent more money for it. I reduced my frequency to every third day, and moved dose to 145 mg/wk.

Yeah, just figured being lean is where I want to go. I have enough muscle I think. Want to be a bit closer to the 1000 TT average (I did some math with the table you provided, to shift my trough number to a average number). I don’t need a ton for that goal, and if I lose a bit of muscle cutting, I’ll do a mini cycle of like 30 mg tbol a week for 4 weeks to bring it back.

I know if I have stuff, I’ll want to try it haha. I think I’m going to keep the gear to test and tbol. No desire to use the ton of anadrol I have. Gives me nasty uncontrollable heart burn.

Read a bit of your log. You should consider doing that here. Even if you just cut and paste. It’s good to hear other people go through some of the issues I go through.

@mnben87 No offence but could you start your thread so we can keep things organized. Will be using this thread to log my progress during the next months of my PCT.

Just a quick update. Managed to repeat the lab tests including LH and FSH, 10 days after the last test. Since the last test, for the last 10 days, I’ve been taking 20mg Nolvadex and 12.5mg Clomid every day. Here are the results

Not sure what to make of it. It’s been only 10 days since I upped the dose of nolva and added clomid, however the results still look underwhelming. Does it look like I have a chance to recover, so should give it more time, or I should give up and get back on TRT?

I would stick with what you’re doing and test again in 4 weeks before jumping to any conclusions. Did you buy the SERMs from a pharmacy?

My test results 4 weeks no testosterone, 2 weeks no HCG and daily Clomid and Nolva.

Thanks for your feedback @Madagascarspirit.

Yep, the SERMs were all bought in a pharmacy.
