I am always interested to see who sponsors studies when the author draws a direct link from a loose correlation.
For a start the study was limited to Canada:
“What we have shown is that with aging, plaque builds up gradually in the arteries of Canadians, and egg yolks make it build up faster – about two-thirds as much as smoking. In the long haul, egg yolks are not okay for most Canadians.”

I have no idea what you are getting at. I was aware the study took place in Canada.
My point was that groups such as PETA will sponsor studies that show a number of things I consider to be bullshit as facts. Unless your saying such groups don’t exist in Canada? Or perhaps your saying the Canadian scientific community is beyond such corruption?
For all we know a company that produces a cholesterol free egg substitute funded the study. Knowing the funding source is very important

I’m saying that a study limited to Canada, with findings specifically aimed at Canadians, using Canadian subjects, implies that yolks are especially unhealthy to Canadians. You asked who sponsored the study and I did nothing more than to point out that the sponsors are Canadian.

I came to this forum just to post this article but you beat me to it. Note the “men and women, with a mean age of 61.5” which means they are already probably have a lifetime of accumulated fatassery. I want to see this study performed on 1,231 men and women in peak physical condition.
lol what is peak physical condition? Do you honestly think 1231 people are there? Year around? and is that the requirement to eat eggs?
Seems like the forums are starting to become anti-establishment instead of pro-body. Maybe an honest assessment of eggs, their pro’s and cons (what food matches up well) would be more beneficial then saying all studies are false because you like eggs.
You last contention is a bit odd. It’s not that we like eggs thus we are anti-establishment. The establishment for a long time bashed the yoks and often still does despite the evidence. Then you have more crap like this that comes out and of course media headlnes will be coming forth.
Im confused about this Canadian banter. Are people trying to say that Canadians are somehow different to the rest of the ‘mean age of 61.5 year olds’ around?
Canadian, American or Aussie, I wouldn’t think that would make a difference. There are much larger issues than where it was done.

That’s a serious yolking habit.
How else is one to get yolked?
Srs lol, guys. The only problem i found was that only 15 eggs kept me full all day! Starting the prep phase for carb backloading next week - its a no carb diet for 2 weeks and eggs are going to be a serious part of it.
That is without a doubt one of the poorest thought out studies I have ever read in my life.
The study looked at data from 1,231 men and women, with a mean age of 61.5, who were patients attending vascular prevention clinics at London Health Sciences Centre’s University Hospital. Ultrasound was used to establish a measurement of total plaque area and questionnaires were filled out regarding their lifestyle and medications including pack-years of smoking (number of packs per day of cigarettes times the number of years), and the number of egg yolks consumed per week times the number of years consumed (egg yolk-years).
It really sounds like this Spence guy is a chain smoker and just wanted to feel better about his habit. Yeah, lets do a study on mostly older folks who are already sick(hence the vascular prevention clinic)and have made a lifetime of terrible health choices(smoking) and then blame it on fucking egg yolks.
Spence added the effect of egg yolk consumption over time on increasing the amount of plaque in the arteries was independent of sex, cholesterol, blood pressure, smoking, body mass index and diabetes. And while he says more research should be done to take in possible confounders such as exercise and waist circumference, he stresses that regular consumption of egg yolk should be avoided by persons at risk of cardiovascular disease.
So, this guy states that egg yolk consumption over time increases artery plaque, independent of BMI, but then goes on to say that more research should be done to take into consideration things like waist circumference?! What in the fuck? So now waist circumference is the best indicator of health, and totally unrelated to BMI stats?
I’ve seen episodes of Ancient Aliens that have more logical conclusions than this study. What a piece of dog shit.

I don’t know what the specifics of your diet are and am not familiar with the prep phase, but I know keifer says eggs have a tendency to spike insulin. He generally recommends eating them with some fats to slow them down, like ham and cheese, during the low carb parts of the day.

with some fats? there’s fat in the yolk I can’t imagine eggs "spiking’ insuling… I think people thaow that term around loosely, yet protein will cause insulin to be released, but it causing spikes when the food also contains fat is a bit suspicious
prep phase is essentially carb depletion - train till you smell like ammonia and achieve high brain functions at 3am (for some reason, anyone else get this?)
I never got the ‘eat soem fat with your eggs to blunt the insulin response’ - they’re 50% fat!

I don’t know either. It was in a pod cast I listened to somewhere. Just relaying what he’d said.
I think the real problem with Eggs is not the yolk or the white but the fact they are a Gateway Food.
One day you’re making a 3 egg omelet, the next day you get the nuts to take down a half dozen raw egg yolks, and before you know it you’re addicted to the awesomeness of cholesterol and fat now you’re drowning a rib-eye steak in butter…delicious, delicious butter. On second thought that is not a problem.
