I have family who live in Florida. Did you even watch the trial? They talked about this endlessly. SYG in the State of Texas is pretty much the same thing. There was a guy here in Texas that went down the street to confront his neighbors who were having a loud party. He showed the gun and told the people to quite down because he had called the police. The guys surrounded the guy with the gun and he shot one of them and killed them. The jury found he instigated the fight and the SYG law was not able to be used and found him guilty of murder.
George Zimmerman did not do the exact same thing, but the SYG would not have been the way to go. Zimmerman’s defense team did the correct thing, and we now know why he used self defense.[/quote]

What an asshole! 6 women said Zimmerman did nothing wrong. Are these women going to let him go if he had done anything wrong?
I watched at least 80% of the whole trial, unlike all the rioters who probably never bothered. George was so innocent that they HAD to let him go.

Stand Your Ground doesn’t work like that. If that’s the case then anybody could justifiably shoot someone for merely walking towards them. Perhaps if Zimmerman slammed on his brakes, jumped out of his car and yelled “Hey, motherfucker!” while running towards Trayvon Martin could Martin have used SYG.
I stated that the way I understand the law . I made no statements that I was an authority on anything . @ B89 that is what I heard that Trayvon could have shot Zimmerman and been justifies because Zimmermen was pursuing Trayvon . All Trayvon would have had top say was he was in fear of his life

You also have to prove your life was in danger. I live in Florida and there’s been a few failed attempts at claiming SYG I can think of.
