Steve Nash -- NBA MVP

Our seasons over.He wants a hundred million, but u can’t do that at crunch time like that.I’ve been waiting for the sonics to be good since the 93-94 season,so this is a heartbreaker.Jordan never sprained an ankle in the playoffs. He’d better get it right,or ship his ass.I was almost starting to think he was worth it.

When posting that I didn’t know nash had allready won the mvp award.I can think of 10 guys more valueable to their teams than nash.Ray Ray included.

I am ok with Nash as MVP.

Most often, the award really is Most Outstanding Player. This year, with the Suns’ ascent to the best team in basketball, I think it is fair to give it to Nash, but by no means is it a runaway.

No doubt he plays with great players around him - but that is the point: without Nash, those ‘great’ players were 33 losses behind this year’s team.

Nash makes players around him better - and I have to say I do enjoy when players get rewarded for that kind of play.

The 76rs allow AI to be the man, and now can’t get anyone of value to play with him. Heck, in the NBA, if you have the ball inyour hands half the game you should rack up stats. AI is the anti MVP, yah he gets 25 ppg, but it takes him a Dominique like 30 shots to achieve that.

As for their overall lack of talent, which makes him look even better, again blame him and the owners for getting themselves into this mess.

Pickin up a team, at least 10 guards befor AI that I want–maybe more.
C’mon dude. AI led the league in PPG (30.7) with a FG% of 42.4. As for your 30-shots-a-game theory, a lot of these other guys you would probably take before AI had similar FG percentages. Tracy McGrady - 43.1, Kobe Bryant - 43.3, Ray Allen 42.8.

AI also averaged 8 assists per game which was 5th in the league and averaged 2.4 steals per game which was 2nd in the league. I think you should give him a little more credit.

MVP should not be given out until after the playoffs. That said, I agree that it should go the the player that plays the biggest role in his teams success. And success is relative until the playoffs are over. AI is a great, great player, and I admire his candor. He is nobodies yes man. But his team is out. Nash and Duncan are great, but if the Heat can beat the Pistons, it’s got to be Shaq. He is the only player I can think of that could go to any team and make them instant contenders.

I hate to sound anti Nash, but the Suns were a team on the rise last year.I believe they would have made the playoffs this year without Nash,as compared to teams like Miami,Philly,New Jersey, and Seattle. These teams wouldn’t be half as dangerous without their stars.Look at the Lakers this year,Do you think they’d be in the playoffs if they’d kept Shaq instead of Kobe? That should’ve won Shaq the award outright,I loved Wade coming out of college and he’s a great player but Shaq helped out his numbers alot.No way any of those 3 teams would be in the playoffs without their studs. When i think MVP I think of the one player I’d want on my team more than anybody, and I can think of a few more players than Steve Nash.I’m actually a big Nash guy to,I have his jersey hanging in my closet. He’s not the most valueable player to his team though.

and as far a AI goes, the guys a f%&*ing trooper. Its fitting him and TO are in the same city, cause the way they play they got hearts as big as any1 in their league.THIS YEAR Iverson gets my vote, especially over Nash.

Tim Duncan, and KG comes in at second.

It would be criminal to award KG the MVP as the leader of that horrendous team.

The minimum prerequisite for the award should be a successful team season.
Thats why he came in second. Horrible team or not, the man put up numbers better than anyone else on the planet with bums knees, ankle and a hurt back.

Hes only behind Tim Duncan when overall value to the team is measured, in my opinion.

Duncan gets my top vote since he is the purest example of winner in the sport. Did you know with him in the lineup since he has been drafted the Spurs have the highest winning percentage of any team in any pro sports League? Yup higher than the Yankees, pats, etc.

Ask the Lakers how valuable Shaq is. Nash was a good player in Dallas and they won alot, Nash left and they still win alot. He is what he has always been, an above average PG that can’t defend. And Dallas is still basically the same team they have always been, a playoff team but without enough defense to win it all. Miami got Shaq and went from being fodder for the Pistons to chew on to a legitimate threat to win it all. I also agree with 40&Big that the award shouldn’t be given out until after the playoffs. Then, if the Suns win it all, then by all means give Nash the award.

“A vote for Nash is a vote for the little guy, the underdog, the point guard, the assist, unselfishness and Phoenix’s breathtaking style of play. And, by coincidence or not, the white guy, too.” *** “Listed at 6-3, with the sinewy frame of a marathon runner, Nash is merely the quarterback of a flying circus of an offense. Nash can be a liability on defense. A point guard who can’t cover scoring point guards should not be the MVP. In 2003, San Antonio’s Tony Parker went for 19 on Nash ? in a quarter. This season, as the Spurs were blowing out the Suns in San Antonio, Parker was taking such advantage of Nash that Spurs broadcaster (and former Spurs star) Sean Elliott said: “This is embarrassing.” Nash isn’t even the best player on his team.”

My choices:

 1. AI
 2. Duncan
 3. Shaq

Spurs broadcaster (and former Spurs star) Sean Elliott said: “This is embarrassing.” Nash isn’t even the best player on his team."

And Kurt Angle once said “its true, its true”

One small step for white man, one giant leap for whitemankind.

I will give AI credit for his talent. No doubt. But the way the team is designed strictly for him, those numbers become skewed. The way the NBA is played, if you have control of the ball 50% of your offensive clock time, stats are pretty easy to come by.

I just wouldn’t pick hinm to run my team. He doesn’t involve other players or pick up their games by his presence.

Nash, Parker, Ginobli, Wade, Billups,
Kidd, for sure and maybe Bibby and Kobe, although that may be just tit for tat. I like his talent, just not his overall game presence.

This year, yes, Nash is the MVP. Where would the Suns be without him?? As far as Nash as a player I would pick all the above to start a franchise before I pick Nash. He’s a good player, but my vote for next years MVP will be Baron Davis (a lil biased since i’m from the bay)if, A BIG IF, he can stay healthy. He torched Nash in Phoenix for 33 points and manhandled him with his strenght and speed. Playoffs next year for the W’s!!!

I do like B. Davis as well.
