I’ve read that steroids restrict the growth plates and cause them to stop growing, can anyone explain the biological mechanism through which this process acts?

i think its because steroide release the same androgene hormone that the body at the end of the growing proceed for closing the growth plate
Anavar supposedly doesn’t close them since it is non-aromatizing and I believe it actually decreases estrogen.
the growth plate fusion occurs due to higher estrogen levels, so, not all steroid use may lead to this, but there are possible issues with bone maturation even with higher androgen and low estrogen levels.
So a cycle with a highly anabolic, low androgenic, non-aromatizing steroid e.g. Anavar shouldn’t affect growth plates? and would it be the same as taking an AntiE along with a low androgenic, high anabolic, aromatizing steroid?

Yes, and that is [one] explanation of why women are shorter than men.
T can be administered to boys who are not growing taller to get the bone growth going.
But who cares, kids should not be on gear and who would want to bet their height on conjecture about what would do what. Maybe girls can go on AI to grow taller?
effects are dose related. the literature that exists is on low dose studies and the subjects were having growth delays that were reversed for the most part. the AI route is actually used on boys. it may work for women, but quite risky.
encouraging a very active lifestyle and getting enough meat, fruits and veggies are most likely to cause increases in female height as well as limiting shit food (applies to guys too).
just because studies show that a little var was enough to get some short-stature boys to more normal heights, does not mean that higher doses will have the same effect in normal height males.
as for the AI question by 3clipse, yes that is correct, but that does not mean it won’t affect the growth plates. there are other hormones playing roles and these can be influenced negatively by hormone fluctuations of a steroid cycle.
Thanks for the info guys, just what I wanted to know.
