Hey everyone. I am just about to start my first cycle and I couldn’t be more excited!
I have a question about an operation I am about to have now.
First off, please only post if you have gone through a surgery while on steroids and not just what you “think” will be the right answer. I need educated answers on this topic. Thanks.
Ok so I train and fight in Brazilian Jiujitsu and MMA. Over the years I have developed a little problem in my jaw (nothing major) but since I have some down time right now I want to have a surgery to fix it while I can.
With that being said, I have to book my surgery appt asap (I had a consultation today) and I want to know if it will effect the anesthetic because I am going to be doing my cycle?
If anyone has had this issue in the past, please let me know because it could decide between doing my cycle or holding off.
Thanks!
-Dave
In general anaesthesia you are put under. It is a much more hazardous procedure.
In local anesthesia, only the local area is numbed, for example with Novocaine injections. That would be topical local anaesthesia.
There is also epidural or spinal local anaesthesia involving injections into the
epidural space or cerebrospinal fluid. I wouldn’t suppose those would apply to your case but do not know.
With regard to topical local anaesthesia, I’ve had that done (lidocaine: I’d previously posted Novocaine but on further recollection that was in error) while on-cycle. More significantly (to me anyway) there is absolutely no reason why there would be an interaction, but I can appreciate not wanting to go by theory.
If you were getting general anaesthesia then as it’s possible to die from that going wrong, and who knows some subtle difference could make a difference, I would strongly recommend against being on-cycle while having that done. Some local Novocaine/lidocaine/procaine shots though, I see no problem.
It would be an interesting question for Prof X as well, as likely he may employ local anaesthesia frequently, being a dentist as I understand.
Assuming you are having local, and assuming the surgeon uses lignocaine with epinephrine (which 99% of the time they do) there will be no problem.
The only theoretical contraindication for lignocaine + epinephrine is allergy (to the preservatives).
There is also a risk of cardiac symptoms IF the surgeon is an idiot and IVs the local anaesthetic AND you have pre-existing heart condition and/or uncontrolled hyperthyroidism.
He posts on other forums on the site such as Bodybuilding more than here.
As a dentist though he would not use general anaesthesia, unless perhaps nitrous oxide is called general anaesthesia (I don’t know) but even if so, if your procedure will not be nitrous oxide, what may be true for nitrous oxide might not apply for general anaethesia across the board.

Thanks a lot for that!
It is general. I will be put out.
How could I get a hold of this Prof X?
Thanks again[/quote]
you will have a pm in a moment
I had a wrist fusion taken care of a few years back.
I was on cycle at the time, the whole ting was I bone graft from my hip and placed into my wrist and I was put under.
The only problem I heard about was, they didnt know how much to give me to put me under.
I was put under but I started to wake up so they gave me more,at which point I shut down.
They then gave me something to revive me and I woke up all the way.
Its creepy waking up not knowing who you are or where you are and having a guy elbow deep in your hand with drills and saws buzzing away.
they were able to adjust the amount enough to put me under again for the rest of the time.
I woke up later thinking I had a vivid dream while on the drugs but it ended up being true, and I almost died.
If this was Technician error or due to the fact I was on cycle,I am not sure, point is it happened.
