Static Holds in Training

More dietary intervention for healthy cardiovascular blood vessels! Fruits & vegetables increase N.O.

Since statics impede blood flow during their employment, this will greatly reduce nitric oxide levels in the blood flow impeded areas. This is not ideal . Regular speed employing several repetitions should provide much more nitric oxide leading to substantial muscular pumping. This along with substantial cardiovascular training seem logical from a cardiovascular conditioning perspective.

Doesn’t BFR training restrict NO flow also? Why would BFR training be beneficial & statics be detrimental?

Good question!

I suspect both would not be ideal from a cardiovascular conditioning perspective!

Actually, it looks like BFR training, (Kaatsu) increases Nitric Oxide
I suspect similar increases from isometrics. We are learning everyday.

The endothelial cells of blood vessels react to the changing PH levels of the blood and release

an increased amount of Nitric Oxide0

FYI

Nitric Oxide inhaled drugs are being developed to increase production of N.O. , , as this greatly enhances protection against Covid-19 and influenza viruses

The elbow is often used in constant motion. Such motion facilitates circulation and prevents joints from getting squeezed . Constant pressure on a joint for an extended period of time can lead to isometric strain injury.

The cartilage between the bones in your elbow gets squeezed between the bones during isometrics and can lead to damage. If that position is held for really long periods of time, that damage may accumulate during long duration isometrics. Ditto ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerve damage.

Therefore, statics/isometrics may be lacking as regards training longevity.

:gift: for all!

Statics (isometrics) with properly trained breathing decreases blood pressure

We needed a GD study to tell us that?! Ken Hutchins – to his credit – has been telling us this for 30 years!

Of all training methodology, isometrics allow unimpeded breathing which can be improved on greatly with intended practice.
