uh, gun control IS about public safety.

No. That is the excuse that is used to justify a major power grab by the government in order to make people vulnerable and dependent upon the government. That is why the same people who gave us the Declaration of INDEPENDENCE, also gave us the second amendment.

I am completely and utterly stunned when I hear that people want the government to be the only ones with guns.

What sense does that make to anyone who knows any kind of History?
None, check this organization, http://www.jpfo.org/. He has very good info on such a thing there. every single act of genocide in the last 100 years or so was proceeded by gun control.

Funny thing, our gun control act of 1968 is a direct copy of the Nazi Weapons act.

So when Pelosi or other libs call Republicans Nazis but call for gun control …

This is just a tidbit of the verifiable information you can find on Google. It’s a wonderful tool. If you search a little deeper past the states and into cities and communities, you’ll find many that have relaxed their gun laws, some to the point of open carry. Crime (especially violent) has all but disappeared in the vast majority of these communities, especially the ones with the most relaxed restrictions. Any more questions?

Michigan & Guns
Gun Ownership is Going Up & Crime is Going Down.

In the past six years - the number of “Michigander’s” choosing to legally carry guns has increased by six times. However, during those six years, crime has decreased substantially. Why is this important? Because the “doom and gloom” of more guns in hands of law abiding citizens - predicted by liberal politicians has not come true.

Armed & Licensed - Concealed Carry Law is Working

A little over 10 years ago (around 1997) - the State of Oklahoma passed a law allowing law abiding citizens to obtain a permit to carry a concealed handgun for self defense.

About ten years later, State Officials say the Oklahoma Self Defense Act has been saving lives and deterring crime. This makes complete sense to those with common sense. Why? Because law abiding citizens legally armed with handguns don’t commit crimes - criminals do. Criminals can’t get permits to legally carry handguns but they do it anyway. It’s what people with common sense call a “no brainer”.
Texas & Concealed Carry
More Guns Please!

In 1995, Texas began allowing law abiding citizens to obtain concealed handgun permits and carry guns for self defense. This part of the article tells it all:

“Both John B. Holmes, Harris County district attorney, and Glenn White, president of the Dallas Police Association, initially opposed concealed carry in Texas but have subsequently embraced it. Holmes said, “I . . . [felt] that such legislation . . . present[ed] a clear and present danger to law-abiding citizens by placing more handguns on our streets. Boy was I wrong. Our experience in Harris County, and indeed statewide, has proven my initial fears absolutely groundless.” And White said, “All the horror stories I thought would come to pass didn’t happen. . . . I think it’s worked out well, and that says good things about the citizens who have permits. I’m a convert.” The evidence indicates that concealed carry is a vital tool in the fight against violent crime.”

The Truth About The Florida Model

Florida began allowing the concealed carry of handguns - for individuals qualifying to obtain a permit - in 1987. Since that time, crime has been declining in Florida. Additionally, those individuals with concealed carry permits are not the people who are involved in gun crimes. Concealed carry in Florida has been a huge success.

Success of Concealed Carry in North Carolina

A little over 10 years ago, the State of North Carolina began issuing concealed carry permits to qualified, law abiding citizens. Since that time over 140,000 permits have been issued and the results are clear. According to the FBI - those states offering concealed handgun lincenses have lower crime rates than those states that don’t. Hat’s off to North Carolina!

Fair enough. But still, with so much to lose, they are going to be more hesitant about being near violence.

There is a huge difference in mentality between a senator who cheated on his wife but has Presidential aspirations one day and the corner kid slingin coke who has no expectation of seeing his 25th birthday and has grown up in a culture absolutely DOMINATED by violence.

Politics has a long history of being extremely close to violence. Jesus Christ, aren’t you from Jersey? Politics and organized crime are almost indistinguishable. Anyone from New York, Jersey, or Boston should know this all to well.

Yes, but the politicians are not the ones who commit violence. If anything, they are in the pockets of organized crime, which means that they are even less free to act, lest they bring heat on an illegal operation through a scandal.

I know how they intertwine, but my original premise doesn’t relate to what you’re talking about.

There is nothing wrong with someone owning a hunting rifle for shooting animals if that is your thing. But owning a Glock or an AK47 is ridiculously dangerous.
What is ridiculously more dangerous about owning an Ak over a sniper rifle (umm, I mean hunting rifle)… and for the record, I like my AK, when I was in boyscouts I got into firearms and joined the junior NRA… After 2 years of honning my skills with a .22 I wanted to move up to a rifle, the AK was by and far the cheapest rifle to purchase that offered cheap replacement parts and reliability… so, how is that ridiculously dangerours…

I always find people who make comments like this ammusing, you clearly know NOTHING about firearms but offer your advice like your typical armchair quaterback…

I have a novel idea, if you dont know what your talking about, how bout you keep silent?
