State of the Union

I guess just stupid ol me can’t take care of myself.

my take, old saying " no matter how much you polish Sh!t, it is still sh!t" He double talked the whole speech.

Said something sounding like he as moving center, then followed it up with, BUT.

See I have two little girls, so I watch a lot of little girl movies with them to spend time with them.

His speech reminds me of a scene from cinderella.

Now let’s pretend in this scene Obama is the step mother and pelosi, reid and all the progressives are the step sisters. here is an explanation from dsiney of the scene, read the description of Lady tremaine, sound like Obama.

http://disney.go.com/vault/archives/villains/tremaine/tremaine.html

A woman of good family and stately elegance, Lady Tremaine lives by the maxims “Above all – self control” and “You must always keep your word.” Therefore, Cinderella’s wicked stepmother cunningly chooses her words with care and – unlike her awkward daughters – never lets her temper get the best of her. She simply smiles an icy smile and handles matters in her own way … behind the scenes. Certainly Cinderella may go to the prince’s ball if she gets her work done. Then she reminds her ducklings, “Of course, I said if…”

You know after the progressives were on OBama, do you know what you just said, and with a sinister grin he replies, “Yes I said BUT”

High speed rails are one of the WORST “investments” possible, they are almost always WAY underestimated when it comes to budget. Here in California, it was underestimated by 5-6 times it’s original estimate. Now, let’s expand that on a national scale, more fucking awesomeness. [/quote]

High speed rails won’t work for the US. Anyone who pushes them either doesn’t know what he is talking about, is just blowing smoke or is trying to enrich the manufacturers knowing that they will be a failure.

I suspect Obama knows this.

I don’t have to “tell” you anything.

The Tea Party has proven to be a wing of the Republican Party by their voting, candidate support, actions, and now, “electing”? Bachmann as their leader/voice in Congress.

Bachman is the leader of the Tea Party movement? That’s news to me.

There are a few powermongers in the R party that would like to be able to claim that title but the real ideological leader of the movement is Ron Paul – though he rejects the idea of leading anyone. The problem with the Tea Party is that it is trying to affect change from inside the system. This will never work because people within the system will always become entrenched and thus influenced by power.

As soon as the Tea Party gains any sort of “legitimacy” from within DC is about the time intelligent and sane people should consider leaving it. The Tea Party would have been better off withdrawing their support of the system in general and not seeking any political offices.

I didn’t watch the SOTU speech because there is no point listening to political windbags bloviate about how awesome the State is. According to every overlords-in-chief the State is always successful and “strong” no matter what – even when over half the voting populous loses confidence in it.

IMO the Tea Party is doing what the Repulican Party is supposed to do. Somehow the Repubs. have lost their identity.

The t-party and libertarians remind me of the old TOOL moto, “All indians no chiefs” used to have the t-shirt.

If Obama had balls and wanted to help fix America he would allow all out drilling and competition for drilling by american companies in the US. We have butt loads of oil here why not use it. He would allow tax breaks to Energy companies to develop safe Nuclear energy and clean energy to eventually take over when “our” oil runs out. That would help to solve the energy problems and hopefully aleviate oil prices. Put a law in place to keep oil companies from driving prices up. Or allow for more competition for American oil companies.

Next he should tell the Unions to go fuck themselves. they can strike all they want but we are bringing factories back to the US and if they don’t want less money someone else will take the jobs. Tax coorporations for outsourcing. Give them incentives to return the operations to the US.

Get out of the Middle East and let them kill each other and stop killing us.

Close the Mexican border completely. I live 15 minutes away and I would be happy to never see another Mexican tag on the road again. Keep the violence in Mexico and let them clean it up. If another incident of violence against American citizens happens we will consider it an act of war.

In essence stop being a pussy. Stop considering peoples feeling and letting shit get in the way. Look at what made the US great and try to get back to that.

THIS.

“The Tea Party Caucus” is an officially recognized group within the House of Representatives.

(Papers were filed; it was voted on and approved).

Bachmann is the leader.

She delivered a “Tea Party” response to the State of the Union Address.

You have a missunderstanding of what the Tea Party is. Make no mistake her brand of Tea is not mine.

Why?

Which part?

Come live along the border and tell me that.

You don’t agree we need to find a way to bring jobs and factories back to the US. When the US was the leading manufacturer in the world we were also the richest most powerful country in the world. Now everything is made out of the country. In Mexico, India, China.

We have enough oil in the US to last at least 30 years. Meanwhile we can develop better energy that can be implemented incrementally. While we implement the new energy we don’t have to pay 3.00 a gallon for gas.

How many of you know your representative’s and senator’s name, address, email address, Facebook page, if any, and phone number?

How many of you have taken an active part in contacting your representative to voice your concerns and proposals for correcting the wasteful spending and changing policy to address the deficit, economic issues?

Until the people hold the government accountable, it will be business as usual.

I think you will find the right wing of this forum doing exactly that. I have attended town halls, sent e-mails etc to my rep, who I like, so I don’t bitch, but encourage. Now my senators do get nasty-grams…professional yet still nasty grams.

Just a better way about going about it. I can see how people can have a negative view point about some of the stuff, but I have a feeling they may be being emotional.

Let me first state, that you are heading in the right direction, but you’re veering slightly off to dangerous ground.

Nothing wrong with drilling, but instead of all out drilling private property of the mineral rights and oceanic property (people own the ocean) be developed so we do not run into a tragedy of the commons situation. This will allow for the demand and supply to properly adjust monthly drilling and prices. As well as, proper stewardship of the oil, basically companies not selling everything at once (Rothbard, Econ 101).

I say get rid of the horrendous tax code, if we should have a tax code anyway. Especially get rid of the income tax (think of the little people). If nuclear energy was feasible, then it wouldn’t need tax breaks, it would be worth the full investment. The housing bubble had tax breaks and incentives, too. We don’t need anymore of that shit.

Instead of making it impossible for the energy companies to make a buck, why don’t we deregulate the energy market and allow for them to compete. Keeping them from driving up costs will just make it so that they won’t want to put the oil on the market.

How about instead of telling people he is supposed to represent to fuck themselves, he could repeal the following congressional acts, plus more: Lloyd-LaFollette Act of 1912, Clayton Act of 1914, National Labor Relations 1935, &c.

The unions are basically entitled to act like little kids throwing tantrums without an ass whooping for their actions. It needs to stop.

Outsourcing is not the problem, we have been outsourcing since the day we step on this country. Taxing corporations who outsource is not the problem, the problem is that some of the things are not economically feasible to make in the U.S. Take the iPhone and iTouch for an example. It costs $4 to make it, we buy it for $200. It would take $200 to make the iPhone or iTouch in America, imagine how much it would cost to buy it.

However, I am sure (know for a fact) that if regulation was cut down (min. wage, child labor) that some factories would pop up in America.

I have no problem with this, if you want to know more about what I believe on war just read the Just War doctrine.

Bad idea, get rid of welfare and the war on drugs. Demand for drugs goes down, prices go down, drug lord’s don’t find it economically feasible to be running drugs across the boarder, at least not with guns. The immigrants that do come over here aren’t looking for hand outs, they will be looking for a job to support themselves and their family.

And, you can’t consider a private citizen’s actions an act of war, unless of course you want the entire world down your neck.

What made the U.S Great was growing hemp, cotton, corn, wheat, cattle and selling to the British, Spanish, French, and being a bastion for immigrants to come work for cheap in exchange for the hope of fulfilling their dreams while not being persecuted for their religious beliefs and economic freedom. Oh and a serious distrust for anything related to the state government, especially Federal Government and State government, they liked it local so that if the politicians tried to pull a fast one, their office wasn’t too far from them to go have a word.

I do, I have most of them listed under G in my rolo-dex.

Good points. I agree Chris. And I did write that with emotion and without logistics. I do believe that we will never get back to where we were until we start bringing things back to the US.

Trump just did an interview in which he spoke about China. They are laughing at us and how cheap we allow them to do business with us. It is so expensive to make products in the US. they are better products but to expensive.

I repsectfully disagree with you about legalizing drugs. I live on the Border with Mexico. I see this problem daily. You might see some temporary drop off in crime or production but these guys will find something else to get into. We will never legalize drugs like Cocaine, Heroin, Meth. The culture here is much different than other areas. If drugs slow down weapons will increase. Or some other operation.

Besides drugs are not all they peddle. they are after power now. And they have all the power in Mexico. They operate with impunity and the Country has no power. They refuse to ask the US for help. So I say close the border. Bring the factories back to the US and close the border. Most of the workers in Mexico make our minumum wage but they are happy to get it. So why not bring some jobs back to the US.
