Yeah pretty weird way to die. A shame, still only a young guy, but had a pretty comprehensive acting portfolio. I first remembered him in the TV series Huff, as the likeable but moody son of the main character. He always impressed me as having something that made him stand out as an actor even at a young age, on Huff.
With his Russian background he was the perfect choice for Chekov in the new Star Trek movies.
