Not sure if this is thread-worthy but i thought this was odd. After a set i see a woman chalking her hands with my chalk that i keep in tupperware on top of my bag. I look at her and she just gives me a dirty look and continues chalking. Once done she walks out of the room and i didn’t see her again. I really don’t mind people using my chalk but don’t give me a dirty look while using it haha…
Next time you see her in there, walk up and use her towel to wipe yourself down or take a drink of her water and see how she reacts. I’d have no issue with somebody using my chalk either but I’d be seriously pissed off if someone went up to my bag and used it without asking(especially if they threw in a dirty look for good measure!). Where’s common courtesy gone?
Not quite SRC related, but I noticed quite a few fat people rocking superman shirts. Kinda funny.
Definitely SRC related, I’ve noticed a lot of people doing box squats with flat benches. The only problem, is they’re just doing quarter squats to the bench. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

+1 on that. Training in a gym where chalk is shared with smiles and permission would be ideal. Or just a chalk bowl.
I wouldn’t want to be dipping my hands into a public chalk bowl. That’s dirty.

So are gyms in general, when was the last time you saw someone clean off a bench after using it?
As long as no one is spitting in to it I’m okay with it…

At the gym I go to, everyone regularly cleans off the benches and other equipment they sweat on with the bottles and paper towels provided.

LOL. Not sure if srs. You better avoid training outside your own garage altogether if you want to avoid touching equipment other people have used and getting icky germs.
I think there was another thread about cleaning off gym equipment. I pretty much never do unless the sweat is extreme. I don’t think any of the bigger guys even care.
Considering that every barbell and dumbell in the gym has pieces of dead skin grinded into the knurling … I couldn’t care less about germs while training.
If I get a lot of sweat on a machine (due to using it after barbell lifting), or even a dumbbell that I’m rowing with, I’ll wipe it off when I’m done. Basic courtesy I guess…not anal about it.
I don’t wipe off bars unless they get bloodied; instead of sweat, I leave chalk on it.
Have you guys ever seen someone use knee wraps while smith-squatting the empty bar? I have.

Maybe thats as deep as their mobility allows them. I use a box when squatting aswell, and I can only get half an inch passed parallel. Any deeper and my butt winks. And yes I am working on it… trying to get deeper.

No, for the most part, these are healthy, young men.

You have no way to tell how healthy their knees are just by looking at them…

Give me a fuckin’ break dude. When some guy is doing quarter squats with shit form and more weight than he can obviously handle, we all know what’s going on. These aren’t 50 or 60 year olds with compression clothing on all of their joints.

I HAD knee problems when I was younger (osgood schlatters and shit). Heavy squatting to at least parallel got them healthier. You’re telling me these young guys cannot squat deep with light weight because they could have some hidden knee problems? There is a rule: the simplest answer is most likely the correct answer. They are lazy; it’s simple.

Thank you, and congratulations on overcoming your situation.
i would of thought IF there was an issue, it would be a matter of poor hip/ankle flexibility and not knee problems. Or maybe this is just a classical case of “squat rack curls”.
Lots of pampered arab kids in the gym I go to (plenty of huge guys too, which makes a nice change. Even the Filipino staff who are there for spotting are almost as wide as they are tall - 5’-ish).
2 of the most noticeable from my last session were the kid on the rear delt fly machine, using someone to spot him and move the arms for him.
Another one was a particularly scrawny kid (looked like 130Ib tops) loaded up the triceps cable pullover machine, couldn’t get a single rep and ordered one of the staff to help him instead of dropping the weight.
Biggest lifter I’ve ever personally seen was an Fillipino on the football team at my college. The guy wasn’t lean by any stretch but he could put up 4 plates a side for bench for reps. I know that isn’t exactly world class but to an 18 year old freshman it was pantsshittingly awesome.
