It’s pretty funny, considering Blizzard was fully cooperative. They let South Park use their programmers and computer system to build the episode, and are putting the sword shown in the episode into the expansion pack.[/quote]

Pretty smart on Blizzards part. I mean, I never even knew what all this was about until I saw the episode and read up on it a bit. Sure, I’d seen the Leroy Jenkins thing a while back but never gave it a second thought. I’m sure the blizzard folks saw a spike in account registrations just from that episode.

I’m still not playing it though, I’m knee deep in Madden and Tiger Woods.

I hate that game, what a soul sucking demon pos.

Although I did sell two characters for a total of $2,100…

I first heard of WOW from that South Park episode. Actually, that was even the first complete episode of Park I’d ever seen. I downloaded the ten day free trial of the game and am working through that right now. I can totally see where you would have to log in a sick number of hours to get to a high level. I’m enjoying the game, though, and I’m not even a gamer.

Those kids died faster than Steve Irwin in a tank of Stingrays.

…Allusion to the latest episode of South Park, don’t bite my head off.

Must be a jaded WOW fan?

NEW YORK, October 2, 2006 - There’s trouble in the online gaming world when the actions of a renegade player threaten to destroy Blizzard Entertainment’s award-winning game World of Warcraft. In this episode, the boys come into contact with a gamer who doesn’t play by the rules. Even the creative people behind World of Warcraft don’t know how to stop the renegade. They are forced to put all of their hope into the hands of the kids of South Park. The boys dedicate their lives to defeating the mad gamer and saving the game for all.

“We were excited to hear that the creators of ‘South Park’ were interested in featuring World of Warcraft in the opening of their new season, and we really enjoyed collaborating with them to make this happen,” said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We’re looking forward to sharing the experience with our employees and our players as well when the season debuts this week.”

Perhaps the big press release on Blizzard’s webpage, or South Park’s, or Comedy Central’s…

But don’t worry, I don’t hate you if you play WOW 20 hours a day. Just know the creators are laughing their asses off at you.

Yes, absolutely. They got a free 30 minute advertisement on one of the highest rated shows in the 18-30 something male demographic that also makes up the target audience for most games. Most of the die hard fans were probably too busy playing WOW to watch it and be offended.

I’m glad I’m not like that…unpauses Xbox

The basis of the episode…

What’s the big deal with this game anyway?

I don’t know, but I have “friends” who are addicted to that shit like crack. My roomate once played for two days straight(he is 28,) even going so far as to take a sick day to cover a Monday. I’m a college student and feel fairly entitled to a few transgressions similar to this, but hopefully they involve a few females.
