A while ago, prior to 9/11, a colonel in the military was taken to court for spending 60,000 dollars for his home security. A senator confronted him in front of the audience and asked him 'why did you spend so much money in a security system'
'Because of a terrorist threat - I feared for my life and the safety of my family'
'And what man could cause you such fear?'
'His name is Osama Bin Ladden, and he is the most evil person on the face ot he planet'
The senator then tried to get a laugh out of the audience and asked the Colonel 'And what do you suggest we do about this 'terrorist'?
'I suggest we send an assassination team and kill him'
The senator's flat response: 'No'
The senator's name: Al Gore.
Incident #2: After a terrorist incident, Mohamad Atta, one of the pilots and the head of the 9/11 terrorist operation was arrested in Israel. A US senator decided to force Israel to comply with a prior agreement and release Mohamadd Atta. After much work, Israel decided to comply and released the terrorist. He was later allowed to enter the US and head the 9/11 attacks.

I saw something on the news about the first one. I remember that exact quote about “the most evil person on the planet.”

Be it noted here, no matter what issues we have disagreed on in this forum, that I did NOT vote for Gore! I didn’t vote for the yahoo currently in office either though.

If you read enough middle eastern history, you will see the name “mohamad atta” quite a number of times. Mohamad, and variations thereof, is the most common name in the mid east (and islamic places in general). You will also see plenty of mohamad ali’s if you look at the historical record, but not too many of those would do too well in the ring. It gets kinda confusing pretty quick, it’s best to remember by logical context rather than by name alone.

This was during the Iran/Contra hearings, way before Bin Laden was pissed at us for sticking troops in Saudi Arabia. I’m as Republican as they come. I even I have a shirt that says Ollie For President, but this isn’t true.
Rush Limbaugh addressed this on his radio show. If anybody would say that it was true it would be him and he said it was false.
Well, here is a TRUE tale of Al Gore, one I experienced personally. Though not of the grand scope of the tales told in the original post, they do reflect on the character of the man.
1996 (or '97, I’m a little fuzzy on the year) Race for the Cure in Seattle. My wife (this was before we were married) had decided to participate in this event at the request of the race director, who was a friend of my wife’s. She (the race director) was literally tearing her hair out over the fact that Al Gore was going to be there. Seems that she had gotten a call from some government yahoo about a week and a half prior, and was now not only having to run the event, but also coordinate a fair bit of security, which included housing Mr. Gore and a contingent of Secret Service agents (I tried to talking to one at one point, as he looked familiar, but he wasn’t in a talking mood – part of the job). So, we pretty much left her alone, as she was busier than a one-armed paper hanger.
The event itself went off well, and there was the usual emotion-evoking signs on the backs of several men “In memory of my wife” (one of which was in his mid-20’s at the oldest). Well, what they had done was to gather up all the breast cancer survivors into one section of Husky Stadium for a photo opportunity with the politicians in attendance (patti Murray was there also, and was using the event as a silent campaign booster).
Well, Husky Stadium is open-air, and the section these ladies were in was in direct sunlight, and it was getting pretty warm. Out came the politicians, but instead of stopping for the photo, they paraded right to the podium and waited to be introduced. First was Patti Murray, who was mercifully brief. Then came Al Gore. He started droning on about all he’s going to do for cancer research if he’s elected, and how great it will all be. As the minutes drag by, many of the survivors get disgusted (and over heated), and start to leave.
After 15 minutes, my wife and I decide to leave. We wind our way through the crowd on the stadium floor, up the stairs to the exit, and all the way to our car which was on the far end of the parking lot, and Mr. Gore was STILL droning on, with no sign of stopping. Not ONCE did he acknowledge that the event was in honor of the survivors that were sweating to death behind him.
I heard that at one point, some government yahoo called up the race director to apologize. Her reply was that Mr. Gore should personally call up each and every survivor that had to wait through his “speech.”
I lost any shred of respect I had for that man on that weekend.

How many chances did the Clin-Ton/Gore team have to capture/erase Bin Laden? I think that they were offered Bin Laden on a silver plate about 3 or 4 times (at least) by CIA operatives among others…
