That’s awesome to hear that your surgery was successful and rehab is going well.
I’m sure the surgeon will give you the O.K. soon, then you can go back to killing it in the gym.

good news snapper! one day (or week) at a time - but you know that…
Outstanding news snapper, congrats.
Interestingly, I think my biggest challenge in coming back will be learning how to squat again. I have to change my grip (widen considerably) to get the required rotation. Plus, my shoulders are VERY unlevel. I tried to unrack the bar once last week and almost fell on my ass. The balance issue is totally different with the now-fixed-but-still wonky shoulder.

The shoulder leveling may work out with balancing of the muscle mass. Or not - in my case, I have one shoulder lower by over an inch for some unknown reason and have gotten used to it.
I’m glad the rehab is going well. Sucks about the rest but you’re doing the right thing.
Re: squats, can you use a trap bar? I screwed up my elbow doing back squats, believe it or not, so I understand the problem of not being able to hold the bar comfortably.
you’ll get back there K! Just keep plugging along, one day at a time. Thats all we can really do!
That the reattached muscle is working is just the BEST NEWS! Who knows. Maybe a reconstructed Snapper will be superior to the old Snapper.
Good news all around, reattached muscle working, free weights action going. Things are looking up, yet.
Well, the old Snapper will be hard to beat. But I guess the new bionic one could be even better.
Cal, I never even thought about squatting with a trap bar. That’s a good idea. And, of course, the albino’s idea about a weighted belt. That I could do right now since no upper body is involved.
Thanks for the ideas, all.
Invigorated by my good PT session this morning, I went to the gym this afternoon and just went “light” on the lower body machines. I also did conventional and sumo DLs with a propped-up 2-lb. bar that I found in the aerobics room. Sounds silly, but it felt really super to just go through the motions. Then I stood in the smith to practice my shoulder rotation. I couldn’t help noticing the guy in the cage next to me wrapping his knees for a squat with four plates on each side. He proceeded to do what I would call a squat morning curtsy. I really wanted to say something, but then I remembered CBear chiding me about my snobbish ways. So I kept my mouth shut tight.
I was so totally going to reference the Bionic Woman! Then chose not to date myself.
congrats for the succesful surgery bionic woman!
and keeping your mouth shut has only 1 issue, your still required to help with the injured when shit hits the fan. went through it a couple weeks back with severed finger boy.
Went to the gym last night to stetch and do some mellow stuff, like lying hamstring curl and hip abduction (per Oleena).
Back in the gym today.
Circuit. 5 (sets) x 10 (reps) with the 3-lb. aerobic bar (I weighed it.)
Squat (got the rotation with a super wide grip)
Conventional DL
Sumo DL
Decline situps with hands behind head (ouch) 3 x 15
Nonweighted Hypers 3 x 10
Numbers will only go up from here.

That sounds good. As long as you are seeing progress you must be feeling optimistic. Do you think that over time you will be able to move your squat grip in again with increased flexibility or will it have to remain wide?
I think you will see improvement faster than you think. Your body already knows what to do right?
I read above that you were mostly keeping active with hiking. I was going to suggest something like that. I find being outdoors to be therapeutic and restores me.
Good to see you back at it, you’ll be back to your regularly scheduled lifting numbers before you know it.
merde didn’t work
Hmm sweets on sweets
Haha
my cupcake wasn’t good enough? hmph!
