I’ll bet that surgeon will be talking about you for a long time. Great job on the rehab and making it back onto the platform where you belong!
That really is great news. It must be a load off your mind that you are free to head out and kick butt.
Nice squatting too. It’s must start to get a bit tiring after a while. I can see how it would grind you down a bit, squatting that much.
Snap is Back ![]()
that is really good news all around.
Hey congrats. Nice squatting btw. Where do you plan to do your meet?
That’s awesome news!

I saw my surgeon this morning. He was exceedingly pleased with my progress, mobility, strength. He was also surprisingly supportive of me doing a meet next month. So we talked numbers for most of my appointment. Then he said that he had no further restrictions or need to see me in the future. And off I went. He was truly a very skilled and compassionate, caring surgeon.
Smolov Jr. Week 2, Day 2
Squat
8/45
5/85
3/107
8/4/122
The weight was fine. No trouble with the reps other than fatigue setting in. My body is getting very, very tired of squatting so frequently. Four more sessions and I’ll be done.
Still doing some assistance work:
Lat Pulldown
3/9/80
A) Weighted Hypers (with long pause at top to simulate a lockout)
3/6/45
B) Leg Extension
3/10/80
Congrats on getting the all clear from your surgeon. I need to find time to get back in and see someone. Though I need to do the entire routine every day, rather than just putzing at it. Guess I should give up trying to figure out what worked and what was not necessary and just do it all.

In-laws arrive tomorrow for a week. Gotta clean my house and make it look like I’m a productive wife.
Your log shows how productive you are. Just show them that!!!
I have great news and I have bad news.
I believe that I have mentioned that my daughter is a competitive gymnast. She has been dogged all season by missing her back handspring but landed it at a meet last night and received a high enough floor score, combined with her other apparatus scores, to qualify for the state gymnastics meet. That’s the great news.
The bad news is that the meet, along with two of my son’s hockey games, is on the same day as the state powerlifting meet I had planned to do in early December.
Amazingly, the meet organizers, whom I know, have offered to let me lift on Sunday with the men. But I’m already handling a lifter on Sunday. Maybe if we can be in separate sessions? Hmm.

Congratz on your daughter’s sucess!
Who are you handling on Sunday? And would you still be able to video my lifts? Hope you can work out the competition side of things as well.
That’s great news on your daughter’s success. I’ve been in that situation before with my older daughter having a dance competition on the same day as a competition I wanted to do. Of course I ended up having to opt out of mine but that’s wonderful that the organizers are flexible enough to let you lift on Sunday. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the Gods of logistics make everything line up for you.
Tell your daughter congratulations on her back handspring. Last week, my daughter bailed on one half way through and landed on her head. We thought she had a minor concussion but it turns out she’s got a thick head like her mom.

I will be handling my coach, who usually referees or handles geared women. It has been awhile since he’s been on the platform. He’s in the 275 class. He will be geared, so handling him will take some serious work. I’m actually nervous about it. Getting his shirt tweaked right, mostly.
If I can’t video you, George, I probably know someone in the audience I can ask to do so.
I’m really torn on the competing thing. If I was seriously strong and at my zenith, I would definitely do it. But this is just a “get back on the horse” kinda thing. Like I’ve said, I’d just be opening my bench with the bar and collars. WTF though, right?
Anyways, I know the meet organizers will accommodate me since I’ve helped them at several meets in the past and they were the ones who suggested that I lift on Sunday if Saturday doesn’t work.
If I don’t do this meet, it’s 3+ months until the next.
Hard choices. I missed 2 highland games and a push/pull meet (dec 11) for my son’s swim meets. That would be so cool if you could manage to get the lifts in on Sunday. Your coach is a “big boy”, and wouldn’t you be lifting with the teeny men? not sure how all that works…
just do it and have fun. It will do wounders for you mentaly.

Anybody there who goes WTF? is just not in the know. If you compete, I’ll bet the announcer will make a comment about your recovery from surgery in record time. No worries about the video thing and if you need extra hands I’ll certainly help.
I would put money on you making it work to lift on Sunday.
Good work on the rehab! Squat is looking great.
Decision is made. I will do the meet with the men on Sunday. I am tremendously grateful to the meet organizers for being so accommodating. It will be a funny sight: Me and the big guys.
Today’s training.

Good for you! And good work recovering, congrats to your daughter as well!
Did ten sets of these triples.
Great technique as always!!
